Re:OMD Obsessive motorcycle disorder 4 Months, 1 Week ago
Aw man! Peppers, my youngest, and I went on a fairly long bike trip today to see my oldest boy and youngest grand baby. On the way back we stopped by Wally World this eve and about 'maxed' out one of my cards on toys. I was kinda thinking of doing the ebay thing and post them at the last minute. I was all set. I think I'm gonna have to return them. Momma's a little upset. She accused me of having an Obsessive Motorcycle Disorder? I hope I can get all them toys back in the packages.
M I L, if she was still kick'n, yep sir! Me??? I've been on a lot of plane and helo rides. Naw, I pass. BTW, fill up your tanks! I did last night. Hurricane fever is here!
OK hangarnc. Bet the plane is a fun ride. It looks really cool. But now you've forced me to bring it out. This is my Honda Rebel 250 piston, slightly used, shifter knob.
I drove my Max into town a couple years ago to look at a '02 Rebel that was for sale. It was a nice black scooter w/ 1700 miles. I had to get used to being on a bicycle all over again when I took it for a test run. I bought the thing and told the guy I'd bring in my trailer the next evening. When we were loading it up, the seller told me that he told everyone at his work, "You wouldn't believe what the guy, who bought my Rebel, was driving".
The Rebel was fun to take the kids around on and cruised it to work at 62. One day I decided to open 'er up. I laid down and when I reached the max speed of 77, I brought her back down. Two days later I could start to hear a piston pin talking to me. I got on good 'ol Ebay and bought a Rebel book, then went to town and ordered the parts. After I overhauled the beast, I put her up for sale. Fortunately, I recouped all my money. I took one of the pistons and made a shift knob for my Firebird 5 speed. I guess there's quite a few people that snoop the parking lot at work. I got a lot of comments on it. I'm surprised it didn't get lifted.
Would you believe this is my car? It's my 1st cousin in law's. For this I'll call him 'Cuz' cause he's a law type man. We have two hobbies in common, guns and speed.
Cuz wants my Max but his momma said no. He has a few toys already. He did have a Knight Rider rep but sold it to make this Lee car. It's all homemade. The Dukes and K R were his two favorite shows of the past. He's wanting to build another Knight Rider but momma said no to that, too. Sooo, I trailered him a few body parts this spring off an original K R car that I had in one of my sheds gathering dust. I told him to put one together piece by piece in his extra garage behind the house. Then one day, surprise! He's working on it.
Now for the scooter story... Last year, on one of my cross country trips, I stopped by Cuz's town to see if he was home. His white work car wasn't there. I decided to head on to my old army buddy's house and since Cuz's office was on the way, I'd stop by there. I headed out on the highway from his house and cranked it up. A few miles down the road, I noticed a dark car pull out in front of me, about 3/4's of a mile away. Keep in mind, the area is flat and one can see a long ways. I was cruz'n about __. After following this car for a short, all of a sudden I noticed I was gaining on this car way too fast. I slowed down to 65 in a flash and stayed there until this car started pulling away. I cranked it back up to __. In a short, there I was, gaining too quickly. This time I slowed to 62 and stayed there, even though the car went ahead and beat feet to the next town. When I got into this town where Cuz's office was, I turned at some tracks, went around a curve and pulled into his office parking lot. There was that dark colored car with Cuz getting out. After I shut off the bike and flipped open the shield, he asked, "Was that you?!" Before I could say anything, he ask if I had seen the light bars that far away. I told him no. He asked how I knew he was the law. I told him that I noticed my rate of gain on him. He said, "You must of been doing __". I agreed. He told me he seen me com'n on so he hit the rear radar and slowed up. He said, "I just knew I'd pick you up sooner or later but then you'd drop back". Good times.
Turned out he had hit a deer with his car a few nights before doing 90. $4k damage. He showed me the movie where he hit it. At regular speed, I did not see the deer in the clip, just a little rock of the car. When slowed, one frame showed a doe's head above the left headlight. He was on the way to assist another lawman on an accident.
The General has a 440 presently but will have a stroker soon. He has the stroker in a '73 chgr presently to break it in. He said, "It sure is torquie".
