Harley Davidson is the King of making people obsessive over a motorcycle. You can say that's true about their entire line of motorcycles and accessories. Now Yamaha's taking a crack at it. I do believe there are folks that think this is an ingenuous move by Yamaha in a market that is essentially considered weak by a wide diversity of people. Yes they might succeed with the
, but that really hasn't been determined yet. What if they sell them all for top dollar but their new riders don't find them to be to the standard they expected? How successful do you think they'd be if they did this with their entire line of products?
Food for thought, and the answer is just a matter of time.
Fun isn't it.

Not entirely sure kev you are saying that the
type bike market is weak or the entire higher price point bike market is.
I don't really know how the overall market is ,I'm guessing its all down right now. Yes it is fun to watch these modern bikes come out. They seem to deliver and for the most part the manufacturers are doing a good job.
My 2 cents: As witnessed at the Star Mid Atlantic BBQ August 15&16 I couldn’t help but notice the Star /Yamaha cruiser Bikes and riders. Same guys and gals that you see atop HDs. Not to profile a group but as an observation a mix of the two groups is now, except for the bikes tank badges , seamless
While the Muscle Bike market is as you say weak and I think it probably always will be just because of type of person that rides these bikes and how rare we really are in the big picture, It seems that Yamaha and the other Japanese manufactures have over the last few years quietly converted a lot of HD owners/potential new buyers with their quality/good value import “metric “cruisers. Aside from the hardest core type of Hang outs if you will, the Import cruisers are now not only accepted but now are admired and most importantly welcome. This took some time, but this mindset has indeed surfaced. I can’t think of a recent bike night without having walked around checking out the bikes, stopping and admiring the metrics most of all and how they continue to progress. I am really impressed with the new Road Liner; the high quality of these bikes is what really stands out when closely examined. The high dollar metrics are going to be in our garages to stay. Simply they are a great value. If you’re a strong enough person not to be forever caught up in a certain American brand, you’re probably going to need a 10mm wrench at some point to bolt on an accessory or two. Harley too is here to stay... Duh... but just watch what Milwaukee is going to do in the near future .I see a role reversal on the horizon .Is an inline 4 line of HD’s out of the question? I wouldn’t bet against it.

On to the Motorcycles.
I suppose you can call it a collection, but I see it as just “My Bikes” These machines are my babies.
I take a tremendous amount of pride in them. I describe them as a group of motorcycles any of which you wouldn’t want as your only Bike.
Allan, a Starvmax member from Melbourne Fl was talking to me at the Star mid Atlantic BBQ and he too has a “few” motorcycles .He felt the same way about his collection. Allan is a very articulate thinker and conversationalist and I just loved his Description of such a collection. “My garage is like a Swiss Army knife no matter what I need there’s something in there for me…” That, Allan, is a great analogy .If you don’t mind I might start using that..
