It's been a very long time since I've seen a Fazer, especially one that pristine.
Wasn't that one of the first if not the very first street bike to have a 5 valve head?
Thanks Kev,
You are correct it was one of the first. It was the first Standard or as they say now "naked" bikes to utilize a 5 valve per cylinder head back in 1986. But the absolute first was the 1985 FZ750 "Pure sports" which was a fully faired early Sport Bike. Yamaha called this 20 valve Hemi head engine the Genesis. It is an ingenious simple engine design concept dreamed up and brought to production by the Yamaha engineers. Notice how laid over the row of cylinders are, this was so this new head could utilize downdraft carburetors. This engine is all about low rotating mass high rpm and induction/exhaust flow. The main reason for the 5 valve arrangement was to reduce valve mass and thus increase the rev range of the engine which is usually limited by when the valves begin to float. The valves are tiny, a little bit bigger than dime size, there’s 3 intake and 2 exhaust. This mid 80's design has stood the test of time and is still being produced.
Yep, the fazer was another bike i was drooling over when it came out, but the 900 ninja earned the spot at that time. You did your fazer (collection) good.

HangarNC,
I'm flattered by your fondness/adoption of my "swiss army knife" vehicle collection reference. Although, we both agreed we admired Jay Lenno's Garage - I had no idea your collection was so extensive (nice photos by-the-way)!
I may have a swiss army knife selection in my garage, but yours is certainly ............. well ......... more like this:
Your efforts to justify the watch are indeed commendable - I think you're well on the way to adding yet another item to your collection.

The British are coming The British are coming!
Triumphs 1970 650 Tiger&2004 T100 New Bonneville
Did some more work to the Bonneville today.
Monochromatic Union Jack tank treatment, blacked out the flyscreen,Bellypan final fit. Removed stock lollypop mirrors and ordered some nice bar end mount style.
Put a couple of decals on the side covers to get her a little racy looking! What do you think?
I suppose you can call it a collection, but I see it as just “My Bikes” These machines are my babies.
I take a tremendous amount of pride in them. I describe them as a group of motorcycles any one of which you wouldn’t want as your only Bike.
Allen, a Starvmax member from Melbourne Fl was talking to me at the Star mid Atlantic BBQ and he too has a “few” motorcycles .He felt the same way about his collection. Allan is a very articulate thinker and conversationalist and I just loved his Description of such a collection. “My garage is like a Swiss Army knife no matter what I need, there’s something in there for me…” That, Allan, is a great analogy .If you don’t mind I might start using that..
Please keep the Questions Comments and Replies coming to this Contest Thread.. Thanks
This is all The Yamahas +1 not soon enough!!

You have a good eye VVmax and good taste..I really like you’re crossed up vintage Yami flat track photo on your ID. I'm all about flat trackers. Built myself a XR replica "Street Tracker" to zip around on. Can get some of those pics up too if someone wants.
The Fazer is a 1986 Fzx 700 had it since 1990 and completely restored it to my standards. Hope you enjoy. Thanks again .Think I’ll ride the Fazer this morning since I got it out for the pics ..Need to visit Cycle Gear {bar end mirrors for the Bonneville}
And Then Northern Tool Supply Came across a tool I don't have for Tamper resistant Torx hardware. New Triumph Tank Badges have them.

I just noticed what appears to be an XR750TT and 883R.
Is that what they are?
Hey Kev,
Yes and no. They are replicas. Street Tracker replicas. I built the XR flat tracker first and liked it so much I had to put together a "Matched" XRTT.. Both bikes utilize a lot of the same mechanical components . They are both very high performance bottom up build 1200cc and I'm here to tell ya They Fly. The only mechanical difference is, I put twin plug heads on the TT/ The flat tracker uses a high energy single plug ignition. The carbs are different (for Now) There's an S&S on the TT and a much superior mikuni on the flat tracker. And last, the final drive gearing is low on the XR (for wheelies) and super tall on the TT(for top speed).I had The TT going so fast ,had to be 145 or so ,That I was afraid I was going to blow the body work off of it. After I backed off I realized I still had another gear!!!. I’ll get some more pics up soon . They are really unique and both well received wherever they go . My Inspiration during the TT build this past winter was that My Father and I would ride them together at Daytona Bike Week 08. We did and felt like Celebrities on these bikes. Every where we parked the crowds circled. I will Treasure Those 4 days we spent in Daytona forever. I ‘m looking forward to Bike week 09.We will be the Father&Son on a New 2009
and a Big Bad MT-01. Can’t wait
