Yeah hangarnc, you're right about the other things. Thanks on the two boys. They're mine. Last of the moe-hee-kans, I HOPE! Actually, I'm the proud owner of five road rats n three grand kids. Speak'n of other toys, I'll post a pic of a shed I built solely for my Max. It's made mostly of used lumber. I have 180 bucks in it. I snuck into town n stole ideas off the sheds at Lowes n Sutherlands. I threw in my cat house (for kitty cats!) I started on last weekend. Gotta do the trim n roof yet. I have four bucks in it. (I'm cheap. Gotta be after I invested in kids.) I made it out of crating that we get parts in at work. It's a true V Max kitty house. I'll never get a picture of my lazy tomcat 'Tony' on the bike. When he's on the bike and thinks I'm coming, he's off in a flash. He knows what's com'n. If I leave the bike out or the garage door open... I'm always dusting off the cat hairs. He's kinda like a loyal dog. The old yellow tiger meets me at the drive after work every time. Anyway hangarnc, can I come over n play at your house? You got all the neat toys!

Evel Knievel's last two autographs
The story on Evel Knievel’s Last Autographs
While attending the 2007 Daytona Biketoberfest ,I was pleased to come across the Evel Knievel Display Rig ,a traveling museum of Evel’s bikes and memorabilia. As a bonus there was a rig from a company building choppers under the name Knievel Custom Cycles. Both were set up outside the speedway next to the turn 4 tunnel entrance.
I parked my XR1200 Street Tracker and headed over to take in and get some pictures of one of my childhood heroes bikes. It’s a beautiful tribute to Evel ,includes an early Triumph Jump bike(many don’t realize Evel’s most famous jump and crash at the Fountains of Caesar’s Palace was on a Triumph) also includes the Sky cycle ,and various Harley Jump and show Bikes. One unusual item is a skeleton showing all the broken bones ,screws and plates he had.. It’s easier to list the bones he didn’t break!
After reading all the information plaques and getting some good close up photos of the jump bikes so I can build a couple of accurate replicas one day, I set out to talk to the man Himself or at least find out when he would be around so I could come back.
We’ll after talking to some helpers who didn’t know ,I spotted a older gentleman going in and out of The EK motor home rig I asked him and he tells me” your outta luck this time . Evel has been pretty sick and didn’t feel up to the trip.” I expressed my disappointment and asked if it would be ok to wheel my bike over and get some pictures in front of the display. He asked what you got? Told him a bike Evel would be proud of ..
“Bring her on over and lets have a look” he told me..
When I got the Xr into the display area it attracted a lot of attention from the folks working there and I wound up spending well over an hour talking to just about everyone there about the bike and how I was sorry that EK was too ill to be there.
The older fellow from the motor home in particular really liked my bike and paid me some knowledgeable kind complements. Turns out this man is Evels manager . I thanked him for his time and told h him how much I appreciated him letting me get my pictures
This all took place early Friday morning.
That night ,while reviewing all the pictures from that busy day I got the idea to get some of the EK photos blown up to 8x10 , provide a self addressed mailer and approach EK ‘s manager the next morning and see if I could get him to Maybe get Evel to take a look at the pictures and if he could sign them for me. The next morning I ran over to the Picture Maker at CVS and printed off two of the pictures.
I rode back over to the speedway and found my new friend having coffee. He recognized me and wanted to know If I would bring the bike back over to show his buddy. Turns out he talked about my bike at dinner and told his friend all about it. Told him I’ll go get it right now and can you take a look at these pictures while I’m gone.
When I returned with the bike I noticed my envelope with the pictures was gone.
He beat me to the punch and said .”Those are some great pictures Evel is going to love them
I see by your envelope You probably want them back. I’ll see what I can do…There in the coach I’ll get them to him but no promises OK?”Yea sure That will be great send Evel my regards and let him know we missed him here.
Well that was Saturday October 20,2007
I waited for those pictures and waited ,anxiously awaiting each days mail…Nothing, then November 30..the News Robert Craig Knievel dead at age 69. I was sad, this was a hero ,a guy that was in my head as a kid pulling wheelies on my bicycle . And oh yea my pictures guess I’ll never see those again.. Then Monday December 10 2007 My SASE shows up in the mail
I can’t @#$&$ing believe it . I carefully open the familiar mailer and there they are, both of them autographed to me From Evel Knievel and in the mailer a note:
Hope you enjoy these it was nice meeting you in Daytona just wanted you to know these were Evel’s last autographs he liked the pictures.
Dennis.
To a collector and a fan of the Last Gladiator I just cant imagine a more special piece to have. I will treasure them forever and make sure they end up in an appropriate place one day.
Well I hope you appreciate how much these Autographs mean to me and I’d like to say
Rest in Peace Evel Knievel,You meant a lot to millions “There’s a little Evel in all of us”
Hope I can add the
watch to my collection as well. I will treasure it as a reminder of all the wonderful members I have met both in person and on line. I’m sure a lot of you will get to see the watch at upcoming events we attend on our New
’s . I won’t twist the fly by wire throttle without it!
Sincerely
Hangarnc.

Wow hangarnc, you do have the neat stuff. I do got the Cycle World mag n banner, which hangs on my living room wall presently. It has to go when I finish remodeling. I have three rooms down, three to go. I best get after them soon. I have the Max shed full of building materials. I'll have to have it empty by December, as it appears. I guess getting the new Max is a good motivator to get things done. Gotta have the garage for the Camaro anyway. Momma says when I start back tearing up the rooms, I have to hit the bathroom first. I bought the remodeling stuff last winter. There happens to be a new restroom sink, cabinet n toilie in the living room. She's been after me to put 'em to use. I'll admit, not many guys have a wife that'll let you leave a toilet in the living room. It's a great conversation piece. I quit the inside work when summer came. Had plenty to do outside, and riding of course.
Back to the toys.. I'm going to make a trip to Wally World n get something so I can compete.
This is probably a dumb ?. What's the KARMA thing?
Re:OMD Obsessive motorcycle disorder 4 Months, 1 Week ago
Just to the left of the members name in each post is a karma indicator. You can reward helpful members by clicking their karma & adding 1 to it. No biggie, just shows your appreciation
Nice story Hangarnc, is there anything else you can come up with to make us jelous? lol
