Well tonight being the 29th of August 2008 I had the opportunity to go and view the New V Max.
Last week end in the local paper I saw an advertisment by Yamaha,
is said " You're Invited ! " Come and see the awe inspiring new  in the flesh. It was held at Picasso's in Mt Lawley, Western Australia. You had to visit your local Yamaha dealer to pick up an invite. I got there a bit late due to work commitments, as I walked in they were showing a DVD on the old and new  , the room was rather full but comfortable enough to see and hear what was going on. They even put on some free drinks and food. There were a few free give aways like posters, a DVD called torque on the wild side the v max history, and a broucher with all the specs on the 2009 model. At the end of it all they reveald the bike to the audience. People were aloud to get up and close to the bike, even have a chance to sit on the bike. Unfortunately the bike was for veiwing only so no one got a chance to ride the bike. I must admit it was a sight to see it had me in a trance.
So for the people that have had the chance to ride the bike consider your self very lucky. For the time being i have to settle for the 1997 version as i dont have the big $ to buy one.
Who knows one day my wish may come true. Congartulations to all the new  owners I envey you. I have enclosed a pic of me with the new max at the viewing

Crap!I missed it,and I was in town that day.
So,do any of the dealers in Perth are gonna have a demo one,I wonder,I wouldn't mind a test flight before putting my money down.

From what I have been told, there will be NO demos in the shops, ( Australia Wide, so no test rides ) as far as I know this was the one and only viewing for the Perth Area. I asked one of the yamaha people to were is this bike going to next and its going to Phillip Island in Victotia. They have a race track there so I suppose they will be showing it of there. At this current time I was told that there are only 2 of these new V Maxes in Australia. The other one is somewhere in Adelaide, South Australia.

I was there also mate, great night put on by yamaha, good lead up to the unveiling, very professional!

I got to throw a leg over the beast and it fits me like a glove, it is a hell of a lot bigger than the original but felt very light lifting it from the side stand, the detail of this bike is the best I have seen from a Jap bike, every little part of the bike is perfectly finished with no imperfections, but I suppose when you pay $30,000 bucks for a bike you would expect nothing less.

I was surprised to see that only 150 units will be available for Australia and New Zealand region, and each bike will come with a numbered plaque that you can either screw onto the side of the bike or keep in your safe at home, it will be 1/150 type deal, but I was talking to one of the Yamaha guy's and he said that will be for the 09 model only and expects that after that it will be business as usual.
I do intend on buying one of these beasts but will wait for the 2010 model.
