Maybe once or twice. It's a bit small for me, & it's no , FAST tho

Not into speed, just acceleration. I can see why the gsxr's were no problem now. It's all about the higher RPM's on these bikes. No low end pull. Easy prey for Max to "pounce" on

Very nice! Sound like you are having a blast waiting for the new Max. Be glad you didn't go with the FJR. A lot less punch than this one and heavier.

But as you said - no either

Well, I'm proud to say Yamaha is making this wait much more bearable by making great motorcycles. The FZ-1 I chose to appease me, is doing just that in racey R-1 style! It's basically an R-1 in sheeps clothing, (or lack of clothing, hence the name "naked bike" )
The FZ-1 is a serious street fighter, and should never be taken lightly. I don't care what you ride, pick on one of these and you may get your feelings hurt. Combine light weight, an in line 4 that pulls 140 hp, & revs to 12k, and handling like you've read about, and you have a seriously fast machine, that is limited only by the rider. At a tad over 400 lbs, you can throw this thing around just about anyway you want, and it doesn't complain. I have the suspension set for a lighter rider, and this gives me some comfort over rough roads as well as some "squish" when you twist your wrist. The transfer of power to the rear wheel causes the bike to squat a bit before the front end comes up, giving the rider due notice that this is about to happen. The horsepower is readily available in the upper RPM range, and if I didn't have the suspension set low, would be a bit too violent in the way it comes in for my taste. Once you get used to the way the power works for this bike, you can really start to enjoy the potential FUN factor.

While it's no , it does have its own unique R-1 charm Thanks Yamaha

Looks like you are having a blast!

Nice wheelie too. BTW no USD forks either, and surely not something you would complain about with the FZ1.

Well, I can;t talk the wife into buying a temporary hot rod sport bike, but I am adding a few extras for my dual sported XR650R in preparation for my Tail of the Dragon trip in early September. It;s fun making mods to any motorcycle.....

Getting the rear footpegs back on posed a challenge, but with help from a friend who had an old Yoshimura pipe, I've converted the Micron High pipe to low & reattached the rear pegs

I like the look of the Micron as well as sound & performance, but needed rider pegs too!

I actually like the low pipe configuration better.Reminds me of a D&D. You got yourself a nice bike. I finally looked at the ended Ebay auction and the previous owner did alot of nice upgrades to this bike. I like his comments on speed and his lack of self control ,dogs going to farms etc. Sounds like the type of person you want to buy a bike from .COOL, I know you will be O.K. now till Dec
