I haven't called my ins company yet (USAA) I wondered if I'll even be able to get a quote yet. I'd hate to find out after I buy it that it costs 2500 a year to insure.
Progressive (which USAA uses for motorcycles) quoted me over $600/year for the new
. My current '98
is about $330 per year through Progressive for reference.
Interesting note though: Progressive rep had to put me on hold due to some note in the computer tied to the '09
. Came back and told me that come January, there will be a "mandatory rate adjustment" on the 2009 Yamaha
. Couldn't really tell me what this meant in terms of $$$ but wanted to make it clear to me that any rates on this bike today would only be good until the end of 2008.
American Family quoted me $542.00/year. I'm 28, have had some tickets in my past (none within 3 years), and no accidents or claims (within the past 5 years). American Family is usually one of the cheapest as they rate based upon whether or not a bike has a fairing. Most of the bikes that have fairings are considered super bikes to them and come with a hefty premium. Non-faired bikes are simply rated on CCs, which is why the new
is more than any other bike I've ever insured with them (with the exception of my 06 Suzuki M109R).
I did manage to take a picture of a VIN# of one of the demo bikes in AR. I'm sure we could use that VIN to get an exact quote if needed. That VIN# was JYAVP29Y79A000022.

I think I get charged 233 thru progressive for my '89, but I'm old n somehow have no tickets. I probably would of had one today in my Camaro after work, but two kind folks flashed their lights before I came over a hump where a black Charger with a light bar was parked. Right over this little hill, the speed went from 55 to 40.
