Sacrificing for Mr. Max... what did you have to? 1 Month ago
Well, we all know that tough economic times are upon us, and the new
isn't exactly cheap. Obviously a lot of us think it's well worth it. For some of you, it was just a matter of selling/trading the old bike, writing a check, and enduring this wait.... (for some, maybe just writing the check). For others (like me) there was a trade... maybe a toy had to be sold or put aside, etc. I am just curious how deep the love for a
can go....
For me, I have to quit smoking cigars (needed to happen anyway, the wife is just capitalizing on the situation - thankfully, I put the "upon delivery" clause in the agreement), and I am putting my 34 5 window coupe on the distant back burner. It was supposed to be my link to the 9 second 1/4 mile... I spent the last 2 years boxin the frame, extending the wheelbase, redoing the suspension, changing to a big block, etc.... spending tons of hours and money... and then I saw the new
ad.... My options were at least another year of hard work and thousands more in cost... or put it aside for a few years and enjoy the instant gratification that can only be delivered by twisting a wrist on the new
. Here's what I am going without... how about you?

I sold my 07 MV Agusta Brutale 910R, and that paid for most of it.
Otherwise, im not giving up a damn thing, I need a motorcycle like people need oxygen, its a part of my makeup as a human being, I cant live without it.

You'll enjoy the Max much more tho
Thats such a cool bike, i saw one at the ducati/triumph/Mv Agusta dealer here in atlanta a few months ago. I was picking up a few liters of $5,000,000,000 motor oil that you can cook eggplant parmigiani after a full day at the track with. I do not miss the maintainence costs of that pasta rocket, but it sure was beautiful.

looks like a fun project.
I sold a 2005 Swift Bar Chopper & I'm trading-in a ZX-14. In a weird sort of way these two bikes were the equivalent of one modern
. One had the low-end grunt & great sound. The other has the handling and a bit too much on the top end. I suppose I'm being Unitized...

Didn't have to sacrifice much, but I did have to let the wife have a splurge on some new renovations for the house, as well as get a workshop built as my carport is too small for all my gear already.
My wife sent me a photo message by phone when buying the new lounge suite that is black, and was not impressed when i sent back "Great it matches the color of the new
".. LOL
