TOPIC: Military is moving me away from my dealer. Help!

Military is moving me away from my dealer. Help! 1 Month ago
I have to report to Nevada in the beginning of Feb, but I'm not sure if order #262926 will get to the New York dealer before I have to hit the road. If it gets here in Jan, great - just pop it in the back of the truck and we're on our way.

But, what if I have to go out west Maxless.....

It would seem logical that the dealer in western NY could just ship the crate to Nevada if I've already moved. I'm perfectly willing to pay the extra shipping costs. But it sounds like they want me to take delivery of the assembled bike in NY, even after I've moved. I'm really trying to avoid that particular course of action.

Are there any dealers in this forum that have any insight into this issue? This is a rare case, but how would something like this be handled?

Thanks in advance,

Torc

Just like an Apartment situation, you should be able to let the dealer know that the military is relocating you and could they transfer the bike (sale) to a dealer that would be willing to accept it there. If not tell them that the military lawyer told me to let him know if they have any problems!!!!

That should do the trick. Especially if they know that the military would put them on the no sell to list and other things...

I'm not going to threaten anyone with made-up stories, besides, these guys gave me a great deal on the bike. $1000 off the MSRP, and no taxes due to the out-of-state purchase. They're good dudes, so I'll play it straight with them.

If they are duty bound to assemble the bike, then OK, but they don't have to put gas and oil in it I don't think. The shippers won't allow flammable materials, so if the Max is started and run at the dealer I won't be able to get it out west by commercial freight.

I'm just curious if anyone is/knows a dealer that is fluent in shipping matters, and knows how to accomodate a customer that has moved away.

Thanks again

Hey Torc,
Don't have an answer for you but I can tell you that I have claim #263549 and have been told by Yamaha that I'll have mine in Feb. I'm quite a bit behind you so there is a good shot you'll have the bike in time. I'm also in NY state by the way.
Good Luck,
Mark B

Just search "Motorcycle shippers". There are companies that will pick up you bike and ship anywhere you want(with gas and oil in the bike). Some of the national van lines also offer the service.
