Hell (so to speak), I'd pay a little more and wait an extra week to be 666.
OK, I'd pay a little more but won't wait the extra week. The bike is already 666.

Claim # 261601 Created on 06/07/2001. Might have been 40 units lower if they would have processed like they were suppose to on 6/6/2008, but I live in Sunny California so I will be able to put some miles on it during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.--On Yeah!-Rayster

Bombardier Recreational Products had a similiar pre-order system with their Can-Am Spyder. 2,100 Limited Edition Spyders were to be initially produced and delivered to the first 2100 people who placed deposits in the specified time frame. Many customers were surprised to learn that the number they got when their deposit was received had nothing to do with the actual VIN that will be on their bike upon delivery. My assigned number ended in 655 (for the 655th deposit received), yet my bike was number 83 off the assembly line as verified by the VIN number. It would be impossible for a manufacturer to match the reservation numbers with the actual VIN because as the bikes come off the line (or in the case of Yamaha...as they arrive at the port) they are loaded onto trucks that deliver them to different sections of the country. Each dealer will evidentually get one bike for every deposit, but it won't be in the order the deposits were received. Some people who place their deposit this week might well get their bike before many of those who placed their order on June 4th. That's just how the system works !

First of welcome to the Site!
You are right that these numbers will have nothing to do with the VIN numbers. However Yamaha did say that they would ship out in the order they receive the pre-orders. I am sure that is not 1:1 but orders put in earlier should have a better chance to get their bikes earlier. Might also have to do where you live. The Warm Sunny CA or AZ might get bikes earlier than the snowed in midwest. I am pretty surte all bikes will land at the port of Longbeach in CA and will make it onto trucks from there.
