I live in Hawaii, which according to the dealer, falls under Japan's district. I was told that Hawaii usually gets the bikes a little earlier than the rest of the mainland because they come directly from Japan. I was also told that Hawaii is not part of the 2500. This is all according to the sales manager.
After reading the posts, i am nervous now cause I never got a claim # after my deposit. I'm calling them asap.
I would call Customer Support at Yamaha and get a clear answer on your question.

Somehow, the sales manager story sounds a little weird to me.

Each global region gets a certain number of allocations Hawaii would fall under the United States, I think I heard of the U.S only getting 900+ so better look into that one again.

I put mine up (#335), the numbers simply have not been put into order, but there is more than 7.
I still haven't heard from Oliver what his number is?
Everyone can list them like this
92vmax has 261335 on 6/4/08

oops, I think I put you in as 355,though I quoted you correctly at the bottom. You were still the lowest number though.

For over a week I have been dealing with a complete disregard of customer care from my local shop. As soon as new info was on this site I was at my local shop like many others trying to explain the ordering system. Well there lack of concern for a repeat customer (this will be the 5th bike in as many years) and time lines, this took a friken week to get ordered………
Hey I’m happy….I got on the list…thanks to customer support at Star!
So….late Friday or some time Saturday????
I present to you my Claim Number !!!(261582)!!!
 ABOUT FRIKEN TIME!!!

Street lights timed for 35 mph are also timed for 70 mph.
I'm the guy that'll be sneaking out of my bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at my bike.
