I believe the lowest number recorded from a member here is 261334 which was only shortly after they anounced the bike on the 4th. It would make sense as the first 30 or so were because a few dealers ordered units themselves plus maybe a few demo or magazine test bikes.
You may be right, but I don't think so.
Personally, I believe that the first 300 bikes went to
1. star and yamaha execs(including the first bike for the museum)
2. High level friends of star and yamaha execs.
3 Star and yamaha dealers and owners
Then the real customers start churning in around the +300 numbers

I don't know anything for sure as I was just speculating. But my theory gets some weight by the fact that I spoke with 2 large dealers before ordering my bike and they didn't know a thing about a new
coming or what date it was being released. I then mentioned that there was a countdown on the Yamaha website ending on June 4th and they didn't even know that. I'm sure I'm not the only one with that story.

But those same dealers cannot put anyone's deposit in without first understanding the system. They know they can sell one off the floor if they decide not to take it home and don't like the thought of never having one in the showroom at all. A couple hundred could each plop down their money as they are doing our paperwork. If any of us were them, we would.

Hey I hope your right...that would mean I have #35 on the way.
You are right about one thing, a lot of dealers are in the dark about their product including the new
.
However, that said there are a ton of knowledgeable dealers all over the world. Thankfully
