Re:Sales Rates 4 Weeks ago Karma: 1
I was sold on the new VMax a long time ago. I really thought that with only 2500 being released in the US, that the bike would have sold out before the end of June. Well, here we are, almost to the end of July and there are still close to a thousand bikes left.
I have to assume that not many people are aware of this bike. I'm referring to its capabilities, its limited quantities and its release date.
I think its pretty safe to say that most members on this forum follow motorcycle news. I mean as far as what is coming out soon and what companies make what kind of bikes.

I noticed that the Star VMax tour has dates scheduled through September. At the current rate of sales, the bike should be sold out before then, shouldn't it? Why have an advertising tour for a bike thats sold out?

I'm still hoping the new VMax sells out quickly. I put my deposit down, so I know I'm getting mine. I just don't want any of my friends or family to get one. I'd rather them be jealous of mine. ha ha

I'm not 100% on this but did get it from a very good source in FL. Apparently the '09's sold out within the first 6 weeks. Yamaha is considering a second production run '09 1/2 but is heasitant because of the 'limited' factor and does not want to piss off those who did put money down on them.

QuickSEV6 – Personally, I would not be too concerned with the sales rate vs. time left. There are households that have more than one on order and then there are those who will put one or more up on eBay.

Lastly, there are dealers that purchased stock for showroom floor. Not to mention media and other entities out there with positive or negative interest in this bike.

Yamaha/Star has to continue to advertise this product like any other product regardless of their production output capabilities.

Might want to double check your sources. It is not sold out (see our claim numbers thread) and Yamaha is also NOT considering any additional production bikes until 2010. 2500 - and when they are all sold, that's it for a year.

That's exactally what I thought when I heard this 2nd hand. The source is good, one would think, he was at the release in San Diego. This is the 7th week though and I didn't see any claim numbers from the US this week.

I just thought someone else may have heard or know something. I found it interesting nonetheless.

Good observation about NO new claim numbers this week Mad Max! Have not noticed that since the thread started. Interesting. One thing I found puzzling is why the claim numbers start in 2612XX range. Someone must know why. That 1200 plus number + the fact the last record number on this is 262332 is pretty close to 2500. Any Yamaha dealer members mind enlightening us on the rumors Mad Max heard about them being sold out in 6 weeks?

Re:Sales Rates 3 Weeks, 6 Days ago Karma: 6
Although the week isn't over just yet, I did create an update to my "V-Max Sales Chart".

The update included the following:
#261598 on 6/7
#262035 on 6/28
(New STARVMAX Members)

and best of all a "Reported Sale This Week"!!!
#262477 on 7/24

There's just something about sharing the excitement ......... as people like you and I decide to "Pull The Trigger" on their own 2009 V-Max!

With the shakey state this economy is in, I think there will be more than a few purchasers who will have no choice but to loose the grand deposit and walk away. Things were far from rosey in June but I hate to imagine what might be after the elections are over in November.

I hope the new V-Max isn't plauged with the problems Yamaha had with their new line of 2008 Wave Runners. Well....that's why they are giving a 2 year warranty, I guess !!
