The first run of the Rune was successful . It was supposed to be limited to 1200 units. But Honda got greedy and kept building them and finally had to cut the price when the suckers stopped buying, Hardly keeping their promise of "absloute exclusive 1200 Bikes only ever"
Don't get me wrong I ordered my bike on June 17th and can't wait, but I talked to the guys from Yamaha last Friday at Star Days they said our claim numbers didn't reflect the number of bikes ordered. They don't think the bike will sell out till we get ours on the street and sell them for them.
For those that have been around for a bit. I have had an XS 1100special, XS1100 midnight a 92
and an 02
I have ample faith in Yamaha.
BUT,,,,,,I cant help the little voice in my head (ok voice's) that keep telling me that I should ride before buy. Im already waiting for my new Max but they (the voices) are still telling me the same thing and I just cant make them stop. I hope that when I twist the throttle for 1st time on my new investment the instant thrust will pull the voices out of my head and leave them talking on the melted rubber.I will be better again.

Not a Yamaha dealer, the reps. that travel for Yamaha at their shows said last Fri. about 1,000 bikes have been sold. Nobody from Yamaha said anything about a claim number someone just saw the 261XXX and ran with it. I told the the rep. I was number eitht hunder and seventy something and he just shook his head and laughed and said that number had nothing to do with what number I'm in line.
Yamaha is quite happy with the rate this bike is selling. Don't forget this is the biggest project they ever did, the most expensive bike they ever sold and it will sell out way before the end of the deadline. All of that while the economy is slowing.
Of course we all hope this will sell out as quickly as possible, but the sales rate beats many other products they have in their lineup, especially the ones targeted at the higher end market.
I am absolutely certain there is no intention to lower the price and if you follow their other products, you will see that next years
will be slightly more than this years - at best they will ignore inflation and keep the price flat.
The real question is: How many bikes will the produce for the limited run for 2010. I would expect less than the initial 2500, maybe 1500 bike for the US?
