Where did you get your data that there are only 100 left? Not doubting you, as you obviously have some good sources, but would like to know how confident you are with that data.

Mike.
I hate to link another boards url here, but I see that my previous post raised a few eyebrows... here is where I got my info(last post on this thread):
I didn't see anything on that thread that looked like any real data, just speculation (which most of us are also doing, so no slam to the speculators out there!).
The '09 V-Maxes have been claimable for 12 weeks now.
There certainly seems to be an upswing in sales - yeah, now that "fxstein's" review and the magazine's findings are available it's only a matter of time (perhaps moments) before they are "Oficially Sold Out"
Here's what the chart looks like these days:
Note: the data presented is entirely based on "starVmax" member disclosure, and assumes the first claim number was 26100.
This forum is definately the place to be for '09
Excitement!
Paid my deposit last week and was informed today my claim number is 263494. Thanks for all the information provided at this site. It was very helpful to my decision making process. Now the hard part (the wait) begins...
While attending the "Mid-Atlantic Star BBQ", I had the opportunity to speak with one of the "Star" Representatives. I had inquired about Sales Rates - His reply to me was "..... they're about 65% claimed (the ones slated for USA)".
So, I am of the opinion that "The actual Sales Figures are being kept close to their chest".
Regardless of the reasoning (or lack of), and admitting our Quantity Numbers are off (by ?) - one thing I am certain of is: The data represented in my chart does show a "Sales Trend". Initially there was anticipatory purchasing (a few hunderd units) - Sales slowed/stabilized for a period - Then, as this forum (and perhaps others) raised interest/excitement the Sales Rate was maintained - Next, there was "Vmax Live" at Leguna Seca, Sturgis and such (not to discount the other venues) creating exposure/excitement; which brought on another spike and elevated the Sales Rate - Lastly, there's the activities since 8/22 (which is the Big Shot in the Arm for Sales).
excitement is everywhere, and not just pureist's opinions.
No, these are the opinions of the un-biased Motorcycle Magazines ........... and they all Loved It!!
So, don't expect the Sales Rate to subside until they are all Claimed.

a long time ago. I really thought that with only 2500 being released in the US, that the bike would have sold out before the end of June. Well, here we are, almost to the end of July and there are still close to a thousand bikes left.
I have to assume that not many people are aware of this bike. I'm referring to its capabilities, its limited quantities and its release date.
I think its pretty safe to say that most members on this forum follow motorcycle news. I mean as far as what is coming out soon and what companies make what kind of bikes. with th way the economy is things arent like they should be.even in canada.yamaha didnt know this but they did need to recoup their costs of development so they needed to go ahead.maybe this is one reson for the limited edition?plus you know what?they havent really marketed this agressively as far as i can tell.my dealer doesnt have one shred of paer regarding the
never did.i found out through buddy whos a mechanic.
I noticed that the Star
tour has dates scheduled through September. At the current rate of sales, the bike should be sold out before then, shouldn't it? Why have an advertising tour for a bike thats sold out?
I'm still hoping the new
sells out quickly. I put my deposit down, so I know I'm getting mine. I just don't want any of my friends or family to get one. I'd rather them be jealous of mine. ha ha with th way the economy is things arent like they should be.even in canada.yamaha didnt know this but they did need to recoup their costs of development so they needed to go ahead.maybe this is one reson for the limited edition?plus you know what?they havent really marketed this agressively as far as i can tell.my dealer doesnt have one shred of paper regarding the
