Yamaha told us (and superbike planet - we where in the same room and session) that MORE than 1/2 where sold. That's a pretty broad statement. They did not say that HALF where sold.
Little nuance here...
It does suggest however that our projections might have been a bit aggressive, maybe because the claim number system contains claims for other preorders like FJRs too. (only speculating)
CruiseMissile told me earlier today that his dealer told him that less than 800 are left - again a broad range but it does seem to indicate that there might be enough bikes for a few more weeks, but I could be totally wrong. If you ant one, better get it right away as sales will go through the roof with those great reviews out there.
Well folks ............ having just returned from a week abroad - (Germany) - I feel a bit guilty having not visited the site, during my travels.
However, I must admit, returning to "starVmax.com" after a week away has been quite enlightning and inspirational.
"nogivearats" - first let me apologize for mot replying sooner .... The mid-Atlantic Star BBQ was Aug 15 & 16th.
So, let me say this about Sales Rates:
As-far-as truely knowing the Percentage of Vmaxes already claimed ......... well let's just take notice of the severe lack of new claim numbers being submitted (it seems there is more back-fill activity taking place). Yeah, those who were (perhaps) reluctant to join "starVmax.com" have stepped up to the "Best 2009 Star/Yamaha
Site on the World Wide Web"!
At this point-in-time, it's all about Lust, Longing & Want!
If the dealership were not so insistent on a real big mark up from their cost, the
would have been sold out by now.
Dealers usually likes to make 10-15% from their cost. If they paid 15,000, a 15% mark up would add up to 17,250. I would pay for the
at that price.
But dealers are quoting at 21,218 in SoCal, that's almost a 45% mark up from their cost of 15,000.
But they got till the end of October to take orders.
I think the buzz has already reached it peak. If all the write ups has not persuaded buyers as of now, no additional write ups is going to change that.
But then I could be totally wrong and it will sell out next week.
went to dealer today where I got mine for $16500 OTD. Salesman said dealer is now offering $1500 off msrp. Let me know if anybody needs specifics on dealer.

Thanks a lot. I wonder if we should start a separate thread on that topic, so folks can find that easier.
I know we had something similar already going. FX, you probably know more than any and I know you've probably been asked over n over. Has anyone guessed close to how many is left to grab?
The upcoming U.S.G.P (also known as the Indy GP) Sept 12-14th......
...... should give the "2009
Live Tour" quite a bit of exposure and will most likely "Inspire Another Wave of Sales".
Again, it would be novel to find out just how long the line is. Perhaps after "Fxstein" returns (from his journey on the 8th) he'll be able to provide some insight as to "Sales Numbers", "Sales Rates" or both!
