I stopped by the shop today and talked to a guy walking out of the service area at the same time i was. I said i am checking when this maxbeast might get delivered. He asked if i had one on order,
I said 2min after the release, I just wish we did not have to figure out how to make the beast breath kinda kills the rush dont it. He laughed and said i will not tell you my name but i will tell you this, if you redline every gear this motorcycle will NOT slow down. I said you are kidding he smiled took his laptop and got in his car. I have been thinking about this conversation all day i guess it can go down as the black yamaha shirt dude. Wow wouldnt that be cool if it is true.

I don't know about you guys, but when I'm really cranking in top gear....I'm part of the paint. I don't know of many people that CAN sit upright at 150 MPH. I won't even straighten up until several seconds after rolling out of the throttle. I can't see the speedo when I'm hugging the tank(just the shift light), but after sitting up, I have seen the speedo COMING DOWN to 160 from beyond. There's surprising little wind blast even without a fairing when I'm part of the tank.
This one ran 158 in the 1/4 mile with less wind protection than my current Turbo ZRX.
But here is the HUGE difference: You are a pro and thousands noobs are not. Some will hold on with a WOT far beyond their capabilities. It wont take long and a 16 year old without any experience will sit on the beast and thinks he needs to show off in front of his buds.
It also depends if the 137mph are real or speedo mph. Any Yamaha and most motorcycles in general showing 150 is really doing 135 at best.
So if you look at a stock speedo doing 160 you will barely touch 145s unless you have done something to the speedo setup. Even cheap GPSs do lie on the fast side.

Since I've never verified the speedo with a GPS, I can't dispute your statement on the accuracy. HOWEVER, I can verify that there are more young, inexperienced riders on the backs of Busas, ZX14s, Gixxers, R1s, hell, even the new breed of 600s will hit a magazine verified 150 MPH. I'd be willing to bet a paycheck(which isn't really a lot of money) that the average
rider has years of riding experience. Most have arrived at the new Max through a succession of performance motorcycles. The price of the new Max will turn away the first time buyer who can find a used Busa or ZX14 that can run 185 honest-to-GPS MPH for 10 grand less.
That's true. Anyway, all of that is jail territory, smoky bear does not really care if it was 137 or 155 or 195mph. In most place in the world all three will cost you your license and a whole bunch of money, maybe even jail time. The only exception: Germany.
It wasn't that long ago that we had open speed limits here in the Northern Territory, Australia. That was until the fun police arrived with the change of local government . There was nothing better than getting a group of friends together and seeing what our bikes could do. None of us had any accidents doing over 300kph. I must admit though that doing an indicated 255kph on my 98
was, at times, intresting. The new
was built to get you to that next set of lights quicker than anyone else.

That has been confirmed by a rep. from Yamaha Canada. He said that the limiter really only comes on if you are doing roll on's on the highway etc. If you start in first and redline the bike all the way up it will keep on going and blow through the limiter.

Now THAT will be an exciting blast.
A run like that is a sure way to test your "self-presevation" instinct. Your "manhood" makes you twist the throttle & hang on tight but your "intelligence"(if any) tells you "Damn, that's enough". Your "preservation factor" is a combination of those 2 actions.
