I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can buy or order the lowering brackets for the rear shocks for my 2000  ,Or if someone would sell me a pair ? I can`t seem to find any
I want to lower it about 2 1/2 inchesbut I don`t want to buy smaller shocks.....Dave......

Dave...never seen them for sale, but a couple guys on this site actually made them them selves. Check some of the old topics on the same subject.

FYI...2 1/2 is pretty steep if its all around....I lowered mine 1 1/2 in the rear and 2 in the front, and I scrape the kickstand making left U turns, and scraped the pegs on right sweepers. And clearance is pretty tight...rubbed the exhaust a couple times cutting accross grass.
If only the back, might be OK.

yeah maybe it`s a bit deep maybe i`ll go with 1 1/2 all around.

Dave,,,,lowered the rear 1 1/2 inch with 11 1/2 inch Progressive Shocks, and the front has Progressive springs with 1 inch lowering blocks, and lowered 1 inch in the trees...2 inches total.

You could just lower yours 1 1/2 inches in the trees no probs.
Quicker steering, cornered a lot better etc.

Thanks Chris, I did that once before with a honda that I had and it worked ok.
I`ll try it with my bike. How much did you pay for your shocks ? The reason that I wanted the brackets is that in case my wife wants to go for a ride I could put the rear end back up without having to switch out the shocks.<<<Dave>>

I paid $150 used on E-Bay, they are about $225 new. You see them every now and then from $125 and up.
1 1/2 inches is the most you can go with the forks without hitting the fender to the rad.

My wife is about 115 lbs, and I'm about 215 give or take a few and we do fine...a little bumpy on rough roads, but my suspension is a lot stiffer than stock all the way around.

I also got rid of the air.

626, I'd go with Cruzin's suggestions. If you use a bracket to lower the rear it will change the shock angle, and lay it out too flat to work properly, the result will be lousy ride & handling. You'll be MUCH better off to spring for the Progressive 11-1/2 inch rears, (I think you can get 'em in black or chrome), go the Progressive front springs & loose the air.

On my '98, I use the 11-1/2 inch chrome Progressives with the new springs up front & no air. I've dropped the tubes in the triple clamps 1/2-inch to raise the front for better weight transfer.

When we hit the road two-up with a T-bag, I just up the rear preload a notch and it works great.

I have a pretty decent set of all chrome shocks 10-3/4 inches eye to eye that I used to slam my VRod just for shows. They're not Progressives, but still pretty decent. Your's for $125 shipped if you want to try it on a budget.
