Thanks for the magazine link, the Dec issue is the first one I've read that captured performance numbers.
It looks like I'll be the first to say that this '09
has very disappointing numbers as compared to the riding impressions given thus far, which motivated a bad purchase decision on my part.
Am I missing something here? The current crop of literbikes post better 0 - 100 times & the 1400 CC bikes post better 0 -60 times, yet the sponsors magazine reviewers gawk at its launch abilities like it's in a class by itself!
has anyone else bailed from their deposit; have the dealers been ok with this? I have no financial hardship, I just have no interest in the bike any longer. It's just not up to par & I don't like to play with performance enhancing add-ons.
When the first
arrived there were no other bikes to match its straight-line performance & I enjoyed it a lot until other bikes started to match its power with a lot better high-speed stability and brakes. I would have much preferred to buy a modernized one ten years ago or so but I was forced into a ZRX & currently a ZX-14 because of the lack of a modern V-4.
I was certain that this '09 would be a repeat of its '85 launch; faster-than-anything-else in the low-end. But these numbers are no better than the ZX-14 I was trading-in! That's an additional $15K out of pocket expense for a worse riding experience. I just can no longer envision buzzing to work on one of these things that looks like its supposed to be a re-vamped drag bike yet it is arriving among plenty of other bikes which substantially outperform it. Its '09 performance numbers date it back to pre-1999 or so when the Suzuki thing arrived.
I'm really not in love with the ZX-14 either; it has a very blah roll-on in 6th and 5th, but the truth is that this new
product is going to be even worse.
The '09 apparently was designed as a reward for those folks that somehow stayed with the old bike for all these years and are looking to buy an incrementally higher performance
. -and with the 4 gal tank, the new owners won't be giving up their Mobil Speedpass either.
Re:Wonder where we got the latest Cycle World News? 2 Months, 1 Week ago
I thought it would be a little faster, but i don't need it to be any faster. Its v4 power delivery, ride comfort and style take priority over out right speed for me. Good luck in what ever your next bike will be
