Does anyone yet know if the oil filter on the new
is anything different to the normally available Yam/Star stuff? (i.e. is it easily available?)
Same goes for the shaft drive gear oil (due to be changed @ 600mi service also)
The oil filter is the regular Yamaha/Star filter used on most of their bikes. I usually replace them with a K&N 303 because I like the integrated 17mm socket that makes changing so much easier.
Did not look into the gear oil yet. I will find out.

Welcome to the site, and I'm frequently amazed at the collective knowledge of this group of
brothers & sisters!!
Also, I find it curious to see a "Hoss" and "Bonanza" fan living in the UK!!!

Talking of Bonanza: We heading there every year in September as part of the West Coast Warriors trip. We always ride to Virginia City and visit the Bucket of Blood saloon. For those that aren't Bonanza experts: Virginia City was the city the Bonanza gang rode the horses to when they hit the 'city'
I believe in 2009 we will spend the night there to be able to fully enjoy the night live in the saloon!
