I have been riding motercycles for over thirty years now but I have never owned a Yamaha. I started out with an XR-80 at age 11 and I have worked my way up to a Ninja 1000R that I ride now. It's a 1987 Ninja though and it seems every year something else goes on it and it's just gotten harder and harder to get the parts. I decided to shop online for a replacement bike and I just wanted to stay away from the crotch rockets. I need to sit up straight again. I'm fourty one now and being a goaltender for thirty five years (and still playing),it has taken a toll on my back. So I wanted a sit up straight bike with some balls. While on e-bay scrolling through bikes for sale an old
caught my eye. I started reading up on this legendary bike and it's whole "following" of maxers. Then I started to think wow, there sure are alot of Vmaxs for sale on e-bay I wonder why that is. I knew there was a Yamaha dealer not far from my house but I really wasn't shopping for a new bike, so I just logged on to the Yamaha website for giggles and OMG there it was! The 2009
I was blown away. I thougt, this is why there are so many old V-Maxs for sale, others have seen this too. Then I saw the pricetag and figured that ride was over before the bike was even built. Then like old Wild E. Coyote I came up with a plan. I got this six hundred dollar stimulas check from good old Uncle Sam and I knew I could scrounge together another four hundred for the grand deposit. All I had to do was throw it out there to the wife that the bike would'nt be ready until next year anyhow but I had to put the grand down to be in line for one now. After giving birth to my identical twin daughters who are about to turn two years old, I didn't think I would ever be able to ask anything of my wife again after such an amazing feat. I guess I have been a good "twin daddy" though because she said yes to Mr Max(I got the best wife). Needless to say the very next day I was at the dealer handing them a thousand bucks for my first Yamaha. Life is good, and now I patiently wait. Anyone looking to buy an old Ninja?
That old Ninja has surely left you with some fond memories, now hasn't it? Yes, the
phenomenon has been going on for 23yrs and counting. The difference in the power delivery of a short stroke V4 is very hard to explain. The torque is always there and always amazing to feel & ride. You've made a wise decision on getting the next generation of
. This one is sure to make history too! Welcome to the site! Check out all the different sections and try to occupy yourself during the wait for the new BadBoy of Cruisers from Yamaha!
Welcome Twin Daddy and congrats on the purchase. This is also my first Yamaha, and I did not realize how happy I made my wife when I got rid of the Ninja 2 years ago.
She enjoys riding even more now, but we hardly ever get to go anymore together 'cause our blessing just turned 3, and not too many options to watch him.
Just like you both I also have the best wife in the world, yes she did 'nix the 09 Max purchase, but because of her practicality, now I have a Velorex Sidecar sitting in the garage, and I'm looking for a machine to hook her up to (so we can do the family rides together on sunday morns)
Oliver...looked like they had to tear you off that Max at Laguna Seca
Hi fxstein,
Congrats on your two best girls. Love them both unconditionally with all your heart and only good things can happen! I guess that you too were given the go ahead to make a purchase? If so, have you ordered any accessories for your new bad boy on the slide. And not that it matters at all but I have a confirmation #261919 Do you have a higher or lower number? Peace I think this site is great too it is a great release for the anticipation and waiting that is devouring my every thought
Hey Chris,
Good stuff thanks for the nice response. Do they have a double seat sidecar for my twins? Ha Ha, If they do I don't want to know about it. Max is just for daddy to blast in and out of the city, back and forth to work to save a little on gas and tolls (and time)spent on the dreaded LIE. But I do think we should all hook up, get the wives together to watch the kids for a play date while the daddies go out and break in the new tires, right?

Can't order the accesories just yet. The Yamaha systems does not take the orders. We will have to wait a little longer...
Welcome mate. Feels funny saying that since I joined like a few days ago
I also have a daughter. She is only 3 months old and only started to smile at her dad a few weeks back. I love her to death. Kids can enrich your life in so many ways I never imagined.
Here i Australia we are restiricted on a 260cc bike for the first 15 months before you can ride anything bigger. So my wife knew I was waiting to get of my restriction before I get what I really want. I am not off my restriction yet, but by the time
gets here I will be. So she approved on the basis that I only had to put a deposit down for now and only buy the bike 4 months down the track.
You guys are all making me sick with all this "Well my wife is mo betta cause..."
Well your all wrong.
My wife is the bestest ever!
Poor gal was 8 months pregnant.. on the hottest day of the year!! June 4th and it only took her 5 minutes to say yes! (well it wasnt that hot.. it was actually pretty cool that day, but for the purposes of this story it was 150 degrees! (in the shade!))
Seriously though guys, we are very lucky to be married to such understanding creatures. 200 hp.. and we all have little ones.. crazy I tell you... Crazy!
