Posted by fxstein in Racing

We had an awesome VMax this past weekend. Seeing so many VMaxes in one place does not happen too often out here on the West Coast. Great Bikes, Great people and awesome races.

To top it off Motorcycle.com just published their event coverage article. Go check it out and leave some cool comments!

More autographed "Jay Gleason Test Riding Legend" DVDs available! Thinking of a poster, too...

By popular demand, the VMOA store got more signed DVDs in.   Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to order one.  The first batch of 50 sold so fast, they didn't even have time to post the DVD on the store's online catalog!  They sold out strictly by word-of-mouth, and no doubt, via the miracle of the internet forums (this one and vmaxguru.com).  Thank you, everyone, for your interest, love and support!  (from Jay)

Next item:  We are thinking of  reproducing the 1985 Vmax poster.   To refresh your memory:  It's the big panoramic photo of Jay doing a gorgeous smoky burnout  set against the twilight orange sky.  It was on the backside of the original brochure for the bike.  We're maybe gonna do mini posters and full size versions.  It is being re-created from an original, mint condition folded brochure.  Takes some time to get the creases Photoshopped out.  I am assured by my  graphics guru, that the poster will look awesome.

Custom mapping YCCT bikes

Posted by fxstein in Racing

I have received various questions over time on how to best map a YCCT (or similar throttle by wire system) motorcycle on todays dynos.

The biggest issues that folks are fighting with is the fact that 100% open throttle only happens when the ECU wants it to happen. For the VMax that means that at 4,000 rpm (just an example) you only get a partially open throttle, an 09 R1 does the same thing not only at low rpms but also above 11,000 rpms.

If you are using a PCIII USB the dynojet software allows you to record the throttle position within each dyno run. The PCV is to this date not yet supported as a data acquisition unit for Winpep.

Pipomania - Another exhaust prototype - fxPipe

Posted by fxstein in Racing

Pipes, pipes, pipes.

Seems like these days I have only pipes on my mind. Since the H-Pipe design (similar to the Akro) did not perform nearly as good as the original X-Pipe, and a custom exhaust project had to progress, a new mid pipe design was born this weekend.

Its a homage to Mike's X-Pipe design - just with a twist.
