Time to Ride - This is VMAX!

This is the biggest Site Give Away we have had since the inception of www.starVmax.com a little over a year ago. Last weekend we scored the biggest VMAX item from Yamaha/Star Motorcycles. Less than 50-100 pieces have been made worldwide by Oakley and even without the uniquness factor this item would retail for well over $500. We could have turned around and auctioned it off on eBay for thousands of dollars. But we did not. We are turning this opportunity into the BIGGEST site give away we have ever run. Every member gets a chance to win this item. Before we look at what it is, here are the rules for you to be part of this:Tell us and the world why you should be the one that should win this unique collectors item. To do so we have created a special forum on www.starVmax.com: http://www.starvmax.com/Forum/Time-to-Ride-This-is-VMax/ (Forum/Time-to-Ride-This-is-VMax/) Tell us YOUR story. Obviously it needs to be VMAX related, cant contain foul language or improper material. Add pictures, videos, eBay items, whatever you feel tells your story. One thread per person allowed. Here is how we are going to rate your work: 1/3 will be unqiue replies of fellow members. The more you...

2009 VMax Launch Behind the Scenes

On June 3 2008, Yamaha invite www.starVmax.com to participate in a special launch party for the All New Next Generation Star VMax.p>
The location: The aricraft carrier USS Midway stationed in the port of San Diego in beautiful sunny Southern Califormnia. A small team of us flew in for the event to capture footage for www.starVmax.com
This is a 16 min trailer of the event and will hopefully give you yet another perspective on the new Star VMax. Lighting was not the best during the evening, so some scenes are a bit dark. And yes I know I need to take interviewer lessions... ;-)If you would like to download a High Definition (HD 720p) or iPod version click here (http://www.veoh.com/downloadFlow.html?permalinkId=v15243507E8EJWqhK).Here we go!
How to order a 2009 VMax

There have been lots of questions about the ordering process and it sure does not help that some dealers don't read their very own Yamaha bulletins. Here in the US the bike has to be pre-ordered through a Yamaha dealer with a $1000 deposit that is non-refundable and non-transferable.There are only 2500 bikes to go around in the US for 2009. It is a limited production run and will stay limited going forward. With your deposit you secure yourself a place in line when delivery starts late October early Novmeber. Bikes will get delivered to dealers in the order the deposits come in. Delivery of the entire 2500 bikes could take as long as January 2009 when you are all the way at the end of he line. For some that's great for others not. You pick.We did a qucik servey of dealers in the area and most had 2-3 orders within the initial 24h, with one dealer reporting 4+. If that holds true accross the country it would be expected that anywhere from 500-1000 bikes are already spoken for, maybe even more. As the initial rush passes by, it will take a little longer for the rest to get...

Rocket Science! - As simple as that! Finally. The countdown is over. Over 10 years in the making and for some people as long as 20+ years in waiting. Yamaha has done it again and has set the record straight for the most power production motorcycle in the world. Almost 25 years after the launch of the original now legacy V-Max, Yamaha has released the all new 2009 V-Max with more technical features than most people have dreamed of. There was lots of speculation out there and articles popped up all over the internet. www.starVmax.com (www.starVmax.com) has been following the final stretch of the making for the past year. Last night Yamaha hosted an invitation only press briefing and www.starVmax.com (www.starVmax.com) was live at the scene. We have hours of HD footage and hundreds of pics to share with you. As you might expect, it will take some time to format edit and publish all that footage. To get you started here are some of the highlights:

Caught by surprise. Motorcycle tester Rolf Henniges and his photographer from www.motorradonline.de just got done with the first road test for the new Motto Guzzi Stelvio in Italy. Both busy dealing with gloves and camera on the side of the road, when a strange motorcycle passed them. At first they thought about an MV Brutale with a different head light but they quickly realized just how far off they were. The roar of the engine sure was no inline 4, it had to be a V, just not a V Twin - it had to be the new VMax!

At this years 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, Yamaha is presenting a deep look into the all new Next Generation Yamaha Star VMax. The display features a piece of art - a cutaway display of the new Vmax. The video wall was filled with smoky tire scenes and acceleration runs of a barely visible VMax. A slow motion burnout followed by intense high speed runs, gave the setting its power feel. The recently launched Need-6 website got officially linked to the new VMax. It talks about the need for speed and acceleration in many peoples mind.

Yamaha Star 2008 lineup announced

Today September 10, 2007 at 12n EST Yamaha announced their 2008 lineup of bikes. At first look the lineup looks somewhat disappointing with only a single new model - the Star Raider - and no other changes to any of its existing models. On closer inspection there are some hidden clues in its lineup that might bring good news in the not too distant future. The biggest clue it the missing VMax in the 2008 lineup. As we know Yamaha has pushed out the launch of the New Next Generation Yamaha Star VMax - they weren't ready in time for the 2008 release. No old VMax in the lineup means that Yamaha might be closer to releasing it than many people think. Yamaha must have planned to release the bike or the old VMax would have been in the 2008 lineup. It is unlikely that this gap in the lineup will last for a full year, we might see the release of the new VMax in the next several months.

A Yamaha Insider speaks up

After this weeks announcement from Yamaha about not to release the VMax this fall, I got to speak to a Yamaha insider earlier today about the bike and its progress. The person asked to stay anonymous so I can't share his identity. Take this as an unofficial rumor. If you don't like rumors stop here. If you enjoy the possibilities this might be for you.Asked about the progress of the Vmax I got a pretty interesting story. The Otodama engine - the 1800cc monster turns out to be just that: a monster. An early version of the engine made 295bhp (!) at the crank. After some troubles with the internal dynos and test setups the bike was tested with that engine configuration. Turns out there is pretty much no rear tire that can hold up against this much power. The engine shredded tires in piece, breaking loose at pretty much any point in time. The whole setup was described to be pretty much uncontrollable by the average bike rider. Way too much power to keep the bike under control.

Inside the Next Generation VMax

The new Yamaha Star VMax is about to get introduced to dealers in North America in Fall of this year. There has been much speculation about its technical specifications and details. This article focuses on the all new Otodama engine - the code name for the all mighty beast that will be the heart of the New 2008/2009 Star VMax. It is believed to come with 1800cc in the V4 configurations known from the first generation Vmax. Thats however where all similarities end. The Otodama engine should be capable of producing up to 210bhp from its 4 x 450cc pistons. 1800cc is about 110ci for those of you comparing it to other power cruisers. Thats also as much as you want to compared it to anything else. The new Vmax is about to redefine the definition of Power.
