Today will be another busy and hot day in the dyno room. Several custom race bike are lined up to get custom mapped. Amongst them an 04 R1, 09 R6 and a custom map for the UFO 4-1 full system.
Temps will be in the high 90s outdoors and most likely in the 100s inside the dyno room for the later part of today. DOn't expect any record setting numbers with these conditions but who knows.
Time to get the ear-muffs on!
Looks like I should also post up some do's and don't about dyno testing. Seeing a lot of crap happening in many online videos. Some Mechanics are just careless, missing straps, smoking tires.
Did you know you can make a dyno read 10 horse power less and up to 15 hps (actually much more) too much by just not strapping down a bike? Funny that it goes in both directions. You read that right. Can be way low or way high, depending on tire, pressure. If you see a rear tire blow off smoke, jump or vibrate on the roll, its time for a dyno training class.
The tire must remain in solid contact with the roll at all times, any excessive slip will first lower the readout numbers, but in right conditions when the tire 'grabs', will make numbers look way overstated.
Most of the time it will not be that obvious. Can be +- 5 rwhps on a bike like the VMax.
So if you get your bike dynoed and the Tuner is not strapping down the rear, or not sitting on it during the runs, don't expect repeatable good numbers.
More when I get back from a day at the dyno shop...
Ride safe!
