Ok thanks Oliver! I guess now I’ve got an audience so I’m actually a little nervous. These blogs were just meant to be a way for me to document my experiences with Max. Well I guess it’s no big deal. I’ll just keep going on like I was. I may have to explain things a bit more sometimes though so everybody knows where I’m coming from. I know what I mean (most of the time) but you might not. Know what I mean?
See, I’ve got the greatest job in the world. I’m an Automated Equipment Specialist at Intel Corporation. I maintain the robotics equipment in Intel’s chip fabrication factories in Chandler. It is awesome! I’ve always loved robotics and as it turns out, I’m pretty damn good at fixing things. 15 years of working at my dad’s hardware store in Kansas really gives a guy a good learnin’ at wrenchin’ and fixin’ things. J Catch my little redneck slang there? Well, I work the night shift, 6pm to 6am, on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and every other Saturday night. We always have a few routine and scheduled maintenance things to do every night but the majority of the time we sit like firemen, waiting for something to break so we can run to the rescue and get the factory back up and running. And did I mention that we are pretty good at fixing things? All that means is that things don’t break very often at all. This gives me all the time in the world to get caught up on reading this forum. Yeah!
I’ve been riding to work every day and showing Max off every time I get a chance. Most of the guys I work with are Hardley riders and they seemed to always behave kinda superior to me when I had the V Star. Yeah, not so much anymore. Max is faster, meaner, badder, nastier, bigger, blacker, and just plain sexier than any of their decked out Wide Glides or Ultra Classics. Ahh there’s that grin again. Every morning and afternoon people stop what they are doing; walking to/from their cars or putting on their badges or digging for their keys, and just stand and watch me roll by. Parking lot rules and security is pretty damn tight so no showing off will be done here. It’s probably a good thing because I know I would fnck up big time and wipe out into somebody’s car or dump the bike. The full face helmet does an excellent job of covering my cheesy grin. Yep, I love the attention. Thanks Max.
There’s a Busa in the other bike lot. Gunna have to keep an eye on that guy. He’s trouble.
This forum is really giving me the bug to start modding my Max. I’m sure the guys at work are tired of hearing about it too. Even I have noticed that it’s all I talk about anymore. I got my ‘real’ license plate a couple of days ago and now I’m kicking myself for not getting a personalized plate. Oh wait! I still can. Let’s see, what to get??? Oh son of a…god dammit! Arizona only allows 5 characters. Well that really puts a hitch in my gettalong. So much for BLK MAX. I could do BLKMX but that doesn’t look right to me. MYMAX, 2FAST, FAAST…all taken. Everything I can think of is already taken. The forum has some excellent suggestions but nothing really jumps out at me. I want it to have MAX in it but then that only leaves 2 characters. Oh wait! What the hell!? VMAX is available! Holy crap! OK that’s what I’ll get but I’ll have to do it later because I don’t remember the number on my current plate so I can order the new one.
FX did an article about different filters and I remember something about removing the intake restrictor funnel. That’s the first thing I’m going to do. I’m definitely going with the K&N CS-9908 filter. Why? Because FX says so that’s why. I sure hope I don’t fnck up and break/scratch something taking my baby apart. I have a history of doing things like that. The V Star had several scratches from my dumb ass not paying attention to what I was doing. Its funny how I can be one of the best, most careful, most detail oriented techs at work and then carelessly rush through things at home. Not with Max, no way. I’m going to give her the best of everything.
Oh crap! There’s an error in the factory. What’s that? You guys will go take care of it! Thanks guys, you are awesome! Well then, back to the forum.
I love my job! I love my Max.
