Goodbye Buell, so long MV Augusta...

Today is a one of those days that is filled with emotions in many places. One of the biggest announcements was Harely Davidson's decision to end the live of Buell motorcycles. A very emotional Erik Buell reads off the final words about the company, its employees, its success over the years, its innovation and finally its end. www.buell.com

I myself haven owned and ridden an XB12S in 2004. Fun bike, not really my cup of tea, but a good quality motorcycle. Replaced it a few months later with an 2004 R1 and nowadays with a 2009 VMax.
We wish all employees of Buell Motrocycles the very best. These are hard economic times, that have resulted in yet another series of bad news for the overall motrocycle industry.

At the same time HD has announced that it will sell of MV Augusta, the italian motrocycle maker it recent purchased to broaden its product portfolio. HD is refocusing its business to its core line of american made motrocycles.

Ride safe!

Busy Programming Weekend

Posted by fxstein in non-VMax

This weekend was a busy 'work' weekend after all. Together with 3 of my team members we spent day and night on writing the next version of the forum software.

With new ideas and requirements popping up left and right, we need to get the forum on and even more scalable basis. Initial test with a 200,000 messages forum have shown that the new software will run significantly faster than the current one with today's volume - some 60,000 messages.

As we expect toe scale the site beyond 1,000,000 messages in the not too distant future, the new version will be a key corner stone for the site.

Another busy week. July - a busy month.

Was a busy week for sure. Worked on various site issues and extensions - There is more good stuff coming. Still fighting a sporadic IE7 bug that gives the infamous "Operations aborted" error to some of our visitors, particularly on pages with eBay or YouTube items.

I got tons of great feedback for the new site design. Thank you so much for your PMs and emails. It is much appreciated!

Traffic has been growing over the past months and particularly since the upgrade. The peak day after the upgrade we had about 80,000 page views within 24h - with the average been 60,000 pages views per day. The forum now does more page views in a single week, than most small websites do for life.

Finally! This sure was a busy week. Long work days with multiple late night meetings, come home, jump onto the Mac and continue working on the site after last weekends migration to the latest and greatest software versions.

Still plenty of work left - most noticeably the wiki is still missing.

This is what weekends are for! ;-) Well almost.

FXLiner on the dyno

On Tuesday I had a chance to put the FXLiner back on the dyno and do some adjustments to its fuel mapping. Many of you have seen the bike either in person or on various Yamaha posters and Advertising.

2006 FXLiner

As you might know the bike is setup with a 10 lbs NOS bottle inside the left rear bag, pushing in excess of 140 rwhps on juice.
