TOPIC: Login Issues for AOL users
Login Issues for AOL users 3 years, 3 months ago #1

Recently I have been contacted by a few AOL users who were having issues logging into the site.
Unfortunately AOL uses a method that requires website to virtually remove all security for the AOL browser to be able to log in. This would obviously open security holes that are not acceptable. What is the issue? If you are an AOL user and are using the AOL browser, their system makes your session jump from IP address and subnet to another on virtually every page view. To most security packages this looks like a hacker trying to cling on to an existing session in order to gain access to it. So even if you log in on page 1, the site will ask you to log in again on page 2 - as the source address of your session has changed. How can you work around it? There is a very simple fix to the problem: Whenever you are accessing the site coming from AOL, you have to minimize the AOL browser and open up a separate window with Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari. Once you have opened the stand alone browser you should be able to log into the site without issues. Hope this helps! |
