We still don't have much selection at the stock size. I like Metzler..

I've got 1100 miles on my 2010 Max. Only know about the factory Bridgestone rear 200/50-18 As I've purchased 2. 1st one took a 10d galv nail at around 600 miles. 2nd one seems to be wearing well, considering BurnOuts. 3rd one is in the closet waiting for it's time. Don't want to wait on a tire when I need it. The thing is I only paid $142.00 w/free shipping on each thru Dennis Kirk. Think thats about the same price I've seen for one Metzler ? Have Metzlers on my V65 Sabre-Great Tires,Like'em, Just not cost effective right now for my max. Take Care & Be Careful, Mark

I like the looks of the Metz but I have had real good luck with the Dunlop elites, So I ordered one for about 165.00 and some change.
For now Iam going to finish off the tire in the next week or so and mount it up and see how it feels.

Looks like Avon makes a rear, it's a 200/55-18...little taller side wall that's all:

You might want to read up on the Avon. There's quite a few threads here about it & not many people liked it (including me). It wallows in turns and raises the rear of the bike. It has a narrower profile, less contact at the road, and doesn't round off to the sidewalls.. It does however make the speedo a bit more accurate..

I like to keep things simple!! I have had good luck with the stock tire so at 7800 miles I got a new one. The front tire will go another 6 to 8K. I'm sure some of the guys swear by the "240" size tire but like I said I keep it simple (stock). Love this bike, FUN to ride!! Be Safe.

I'm with B_M. I Hate my rear avon(stock size) and am in the process of burning it off, just so I may get back to the sticky metz(tire #4 ). The avon does supposedly bring the speedo back with in about 1% accuracy though(according to the info on this forum).
