Our local Harley/Kawasaki/Suzuki/Yamaha shop was sponsoring a night at our local car oval track. The general manager saw me at the shop the other day and asked me to be there so I could run my 'Max around the track when they did a parade lap. I said 'sure, do you think they will mind if I burn off my tire?'He said no, as a matter of fact, if you do that, I will split the cost of a new one with you. How could I say no? So goodbye Battlax (just over 4000 miles) and hello new Metzler ME880 in 210/40 18. I will be swapping it out tomorrow and going for a ride.

You can run, but you'll only die tired.

One day after watching it happen, a friend of mine snidely ask me "When your in a group of bikes, why is it always a V-Max guy that does a burn out?"
I said "it's the Breakfast of Champions!" A puzzled look came across his face, and he ask "How's that?" I said "Egg's and Fresh Toasted Rubber, It's the Breakfast of Champions!" He said "I didn't see no egg!" I replied "that's because it was hidden under the toast!" We get on the bikes and about ten miles down the road we stop at a red light. We are waiting for it to change when all of the sudden I am spooked by the loud trumpet of a V-Twin followed by a huge veil of smoke. When the smoke cleared, I looked over at him and ask "what the hell are YOU doing!?" He said "Having Breakfast!" |
