Well, just another Reason to live long and prosper without using Products out of Cupertino, Ca.

It certainly is a different way to do things. When I first found I had the same gut reaction.
It all depends on what is important to you. What you are used to. People don't like change

If you think about it this way has many more advantages:

- security of your files and your device by not allowing direct access to your storage media. Less infection potential
- single source of truth. Single upload with only links to other places.
- if you need to pull the plug you only do it at one source
- you still control your content (not site owners)
- cloud storage - way of the future - devices are slaves with a single secure brain accessible by many devices
- easy backup and restore. No more loss of data due to a device crush

So there are many more advantages to it. I've been operating cloud based environments for the past 4-5 years now. Its it only now that you hear buzz words about it and all the hype and people still don't get it

Again not trying to convince anyone either way, but might as well face it this is where the future is heading weather we like it or not.
