The TT at Assen was this Saturday. Since 1995 I've visited this event on my bike. The best way to do it!!!

Last year John & I took the train, because I''d had a shoulder operation 7 days prior to the races.
This year proved to be a great test case for the Italy holiday in a few weeks' time.

The weather was great. I got a sunburn on the grand stand.

John decided to mount the video camera and tape the trip to and from the TT Circuit. Only then can you get a taste of the happening that's called: 'Dutch TT'! The people that welcome you, the multitude of bikers, the farewell trip home with thousands & thousands of spectators waving you on.

The ride to the circuit, but especially the ride back home is a wonderful happening for the visitors of the TT. Especially in the late afternoon and the evening the people of the northern provinces (Drenthe & Overijssel and to some extent in Utrecht as well) wave the bikers goodbye by the side of the road, on the bridges and at the gas stations.

Although it's a mayor traffic jam every year, we enjoy it immensely.

Today I spent the better part of the day to edit the footage John shot yesterday. And of course you'll see some vids of the events on the circuit, the major footage shows the trip to the circuit & especially the trip home. Note: different traffic regulations apply to this exodus!

Oh And John compels me to add that I've been a fan since he started on Aprilia. I saw him win at Assen for the first time in the 125cc. Doohan won the 500cc that day.

Great video and editing as usual Friede, I wished Valentino had won for you but I think that the Ducati is not doing him any favours, I wished he had not left Yamaha.

Yer he has a bitch of a bike there Babe, it does not suit his style of riding anyway. Stoner managed it a little better but still a bitch for him also. It would be great to see him on a good bike and finish off his career in style. A truly great rider that history will make even greater I think.
My most memorable memory was him on ctutches as they held the bike for him to get on and race. Superman
