Hi Aircrawler, hope you are allright with no lasting physical injury!
The bike can always be fixed, it's only money, but people are another matter. Since you typed this and uploaded the photos I assume you're okay! Was it a new tire or a reckless car driver? |

First i want to thank all of yaa for the responses.
Well, for the story of this.. i was in a kind of hurry yesterday to get to the hospital, that's why i only posted the pics. Took ages to get some help but after all it's just some bruised fingers and my left side of my body is painfull and colored. As for the max , an insurance guy has to take a look at it but fortunately i'm all-risk insured. I picked up my vmax that day at the motor-centre , had all flueds, filters, injection etc checked ,some new turn-signals at front side and new tires, in two weeks i was gonna do the tidy-tail coz i had to wait for the parts. I tried to remember exactly what happened last night in order to find out what i did wrong coz i'm the only one to blame here, no other cars or ppl that caused this. I drove off at the centre , on a normal pace ...took a left turn and after that a right turn....my back tire lost grip and it looked like i was riding on ice, happened all in a sec, b4 i knew i saw myself heading for that parked car. That's about it...it surprised me when i was tumbling and laying on the floor the first thing i thought was: ow No my poor Vmax, all the damage!! can't believe it. You guys are all right ; Health is the first and most important thing but i was only thinking of my max. Now after a day i'm thankfull i'm allright and my max can be repaired ( i hope) depends on what insurance says. Lesson that's learned (in my case): new tyres..ride very slow (understatement) Ro PS: New tyres are lethal when first fitted! In very basic terms tyres are made by injecting liquid rubber into a mould, to stop the rubber sticking to the mould the mould has to be coated with a release agent. Some of that release agent gets into the top surface on the tyre, so untill the road has worn away the surface of the tyre on wet roads it can be like driving on ice! Every new tyre regardless of brand has this problem, from the most expensive brand name to the cheapest budget they all have a coating that needs to be worn off. Even on a dry road the coating and deep tread pattern can reduce grip by as much as 50% over an old bald tyre, think how much of the tyre is actually in contact with the road? it is probably less than the sole of your shoe, the tread pattern reduces that still further. Thats why racing cars use slick tyres in dry conditions so that the maximum amount of rubber is in contact with the road, the tread only helps in wet weather. You need to drive at least 100 miles before a new tyre will grip as it should and during that time you should be cautious especially in wet conditions, if your car's tracking is out or you have lowered the suspension it will make matters worse. |

Hi A/C thanks for the write-up. And you're right, new tyres are dangerous, especially on a torque monster like ours!
I hope your bruising will fade quickly. The Max will be okay, although I can understand you're a bit 'pissed' at the moment. Ah well, you got good insurance. In a couple of weeks you Vmax will be as good as new. Take time to heal yourself as well! |
