Re: my accident an hour ago 2 years 7 months ago #31

:) Tnx for the responses.

What i'm surprised off is that all ppl know how slick those new tyres can be, especially when it's wet, even the garages and manufacturers.
I get storys from a lot of ppl and garages that ppl slip away on their bikes after they got new tyres, a lot of accidents.
So except for being very carefull with no tires , isn't there another solution or alternative for that waxy compound ,when it's that dangerous i really think they should investigate on that.
I know i should have driven even more careful ( so don't throw that in my face) but still, that many accidents and almost crashes should make ppl think.

To respond on Bad_max , i wish i had such a road nearby but unfortunately that's not the reality here in Holland.
We live in a very small and crowded country with no desert at all .

I hope to know more next wednesday what will happen to my max, wether it's a totalloss or not.

Ac many companies that offer race tire like BF Goodrich and others shave the tire remove compound or layer of tread that contains the release agent problem is so many people like to see the stripes and stickers on any new tire to prove its new! Yes I was a tire salesman we even wouldnt wash off the blue coating on whitwalls or raised white letter tires just for the same reason people are fussy like that.
I persoanly like to take some 100 grit paper to my tires and cut off all the little injection tits although I did notice the Continental Race attack 240 already had them cut and apeared the tire ran through some kind of scrubber the rubber was not as shinny as normal so maybee some are doing this.
Still hurts to learn the lesson the lesson the hard way hope your fealing ok Tyler

Ps nice looking X-pipe just noticed it in the pics

Is there a kind of chemical (or natural)product we can spray and the tire will loose this dangerous stuff?
I know we have to be careful, but if a such a product exist,it would be safer...Sandpaper is great, but maybe somebody somewhere knows something!

I have always used a bit of sand paper but some have told me rubbing alcohol or acetone used sparingly on a rag would work aswell. I have never tried it but some people sware by it :hmmm: !

Follow up

Well called my garage today.
The insurance-guy had come by, he estimated the damage around 10K € and b4 he makes a decision wether it's a totalloss or repair , he's gonna put my max on a special site for buyers to see what the insurance is gonna get for it.
So if they get enough for my max , it will be a totalllos and if not they gonna repair it.
I'll have to wait another week for the outcome..

Don't you have the option to either total it(bigger check) vs. fixing it(smaller check)???

I'm sure this stuff would do it with a little elbo grease and a scrub brush.
