TOPIC: Motorcycle Daily Review

Motorcycle Daily Review 4 years 8 months ago #1

Here is an excellent review of the 2009 VMAX...the link is below and here is one of my favorite paragraphs of the review.

Rick

We've ridden them all. The ZX-14. The Vulcan 2000 with its 2053 cc v-twin. The Hayabusa, and the Honda Rune with its 1832 cc flat six fed by a half dozen throttle bodies. Nothing leaves a stop light like the new VMax. The VMax is laying down more than 100 pound/feet of torque at the rear tire before inline-fours like the ZX-14 and Hayabusa have finished clearing their throats. Like many things in life, it is something you have to experience to fully appreciate and understand.

Wait until you get a chance to ride the New VMax. The Rocket 3 is nowhere close to that. Test riders speculated that the VMax would be 1.5-2 seconds faster in the quarter mile than the Rocket. That is light years in terms of acceleration. We wont know for sure until we get to see some real numbers, but rest assured that the Rocket wont feel that fast once you get back on it... B)

V1 of Vmax spanked the Rocket 3's. I will compare V2 with the Vrod Destroyer or other Liter bikes and above...in acceleration anyway.

Mark, I'm not sure that it's going to be a good comparison because the Destroyer is strictly a drag bike with all excess weight removed. It would be like challenging a dragster with a production car that's driven on a street. But it just might be fun anyway putting a big slick on the 09 with wheelie bars and see what happens.
