TOPIC: Gorgeous mountain roads in the South of France

Gorgeous mountain roads in the South of France 1 year 11 months ago #1

Since I'm still looking for a new home in the area of Cannes (Cote d'Azur) France, I'm exploring the mountain area.
Today I drove the roads around the mountain villages Tourtour and Draguignan (google earth this places).
I'ts crazy! Hundreds of curves and small roads, just like those in the Dolomites.

My wife and I found a space, which will be sold because of the divorce of a very old couple.
A villa, Provencal style, with a big swimming pool and lots of space to park bikes.
A lot of work to do, but a perfect place to start a bed and breakfast for bikers.
Then also setting up a lot of bike trips in the mountains.
Monday we have a appointment at the notary and then the game begins!

I've been on these roads with my old VMax and I can' t wait to try them with the new (2009) beast.

This topic was made on my Ipod, so I'll post the pics when I come back home on Tuesday.
By the way, every day around 28 celsius and lots of sun!

Bonjour Mon ami :-)

I lived in southern France for 3 years when I was around 15.
I lived in Menton right next to Monte Carlo.
We regularly traveled between Nice and Tulon where my auntie lives.
Cote de A'zure has to be one of the most beautiful part in the world
If you have a chance take some pics and put them up for us.

Good luck finding your little piece of heaven.

Was a busy week in la Douce France. Temperatures around 30-35 centigrade.
Discovered a lot of new villages, where time stood still and people live in a slow pace.

I promised to show some photo's. Here's the link:

On the way to the airport we always take a local bus for 1 €uro.
This time it looked like the driver (I thought he was of Algerian origine) runned a call-center. His mobile phone kept on ringing and made it often difficult for him to drive the bus.
Some of the passengers (us also) reacted several time with oooohh and aaahhhh, when he almost missed a curve.
He also didn't stop at several busstops, leaving a lot of people, who were waving furiously at him, behind.

When he occasionally stopped to pick up some people, they said, that before him 3 busses didn't bother to stop for them.
That's also France.

We were on time at the airport. Flight schedule for Amsterdam was 21.50 h.
When we were checking in, we saw the message "Delay" appearing on the screen.
Due to technical problems in amsterdam and a huge thunderstrom, the plane arrived at 02.45 this morning.
We arrived at home around 5 in the morning and had tot start to work at 9.
So, no sleep since yesterday morning, but why bother. We had a magnificent week abroad.

Yeah
I know, there it has great roads.
In 1986.
After bath holidays in Argeles sur meres (Perpignan) we drive northway at the coast to Cannes.

Then we think; we do not drive "Route Napolion", we drive over the montains.(2 days to go back to switzerland).

No, it wosen't possibel to go this way back in 2 days. The roads was to beautiful, and not for fast drive. We call to ouer workplace and said; we came a day later at work.

My 1 day Biketrips are most in France. Elsass German/France
or in the south from the Genfersee/ Lac Leman/ Lake of Genf

I like it more to drive in France than in Switzerland.
Not so mutch traffic.
