He said my clutch looked fine.. And i kept the DD in when he did the recall..

going on 50000 miles you would think the way i ride sometimes that my clutch would be trashed..Not the case tho..

Galfer will be making braided clutch lines very soon that lessens the pull a lot , I should have mine in a couple of days

The stock rubber lines swell even more so with the double d by eliminating that it lessens the pull will report on that soon

I also had them send me front and rear of their upgraded brake pads will replace those when I do the clutch and rar brake lines

The braided stuff reall makes a difference .

Captainkyle can get ya a hook up on the Galfer stuff now coming in a smoke gray color too.

Just left the dealer and it's definitely smoked handed the tech the set I got from D and he is installing them now , he had the rear wheel mounted and balanced just one small black weight about 1/2 inch square but he did spin the tire to find the sweet spot
I should be ready to go in a couple of hours .

First The Disclaimer: I am not an engineer or a mechanic. I can just share my experiences, info read and observed from others experience and advice. Slipper Clutch: www.yoyodyneti.com/motorcycle_slipper_clutch_operat.htm I ran the Barnett in my Gen1 1200 and 1260 with stock frictions and steels with no issues as well as the DD. I liked the anodized plate with the clear clutch cover. With the 1500 Tourmaster 165 RWHP and 100 ft lbs torque I started experiencing slip and grab from stop light normal take-offs. Went to Barnett Heavy Springs with a brief improvement and back to problem. Replaced all the discs and springs, still problem. Rebuilt clutch master , replaced slave cyl., still there. Reinstalled DD after polishing and problem disappeared. Sent the Barnett to mfgr. Found nothing wrong Replaced no charge and I sold and never went back. Now, I was doing my feeble attempt at the parking lot burnouts in Indiana Vmax Rally 2009 and went to leave with group and bike would not budge. Disassembly should a fried clutch steels and frictions at only 4000 miles. Replaced clutch with all stock new and did DD. Never a problem since. Inspected the clutch at 14000 miles when oil pump recall replacement was just done- Clutch looks great! I believe the stock friction plates are more than adequate and possibly much better that the kevlar or carbon frictions. At about 190 RWHP and 125 ft lbs torque the DD and stock clutch components work great for me. imho.

That's funny Neil I suppose it fits but ya know Being Hannibal of the Florida V Team i can say

"I love it when a plan comes together" Darrel stepped up and the Barnett was installed with one spring at least for a while

only got to ride it on the trailer but feels fine the rain is here now so a good ride will have to wait till tomorrow .

The Dealer did their job and the Wheels came out unscathed I had full confidence in the Tech Walter and the Coats 220 tire

machine and they had some new German made balancer and that went well with minimum weights one tiny black weight on

each wheel, The Tech did mention that he could see how someone could screw up the oil pump if they did not think it thru

parts need to be installed in a particular order and he did. Still felt better with the gauge installed for oil pressure

The order of business if wheels are installed on a bike it must be test ridden the Service guy david had the honers

he used to work at Yamaha back in the day and assembled many a gen 1 I told him to let er rip some he had never

been on a Gen 2 so when he came back he could not get that grin off his face gotta love it a great day at the dealer

had a small labor charge for changing all the fluff from stock wheels to the BST's they have their own drive hub the

Yammie one stayed in the stock 240 and the bearings were way different Darryl mentioned he got to see the goings on

when he brought the Barnett this morning .

The Service Manager assisted in the tire install but did say that for future installs that they would do them but not be

responsible for any damage for they have no way to repair such a wheel. BST did say

wheels that got damaged by an accident or mishap can be repaired at the factory .

I suppose that is fair for what they make on tire installs , I will use them again though.

Re: Clutch is Toast 1 year 6 months ago #28

Well that list is long but distinguished so far it's in the garage but be patient , My situation is unique I only have the 240

no 200 as a back up so if i ever sell my bike i would have no wheels to install cause the BST's would be sold separate

doubt that day will ever come unless Yamaha introduces a six speed with a 5 gallon tank in 2013.

:steam: Replaced mine at 16500K without double Spring ! I guess I got lucky , when they did the recall I asked them to replace the clutches ! I just paid for the cost of the clutches no labor  Still cost me $350 !!!!! with labor it would have cost me $572!!!

Cant really give a good evaluation on the Barnett clutch but maybe my spring or at least one of them is worn out 20 K

I had to add the second spring and used Rick's retainer (nice) then it worked better does not go into Neutral as good as the

stock one I can adjust that with the Pazzo lever to help with that but then engages more to the end of travel

The Barnett does engage briskly kinda like that I have not tried a launch yet

I am going to give it some time and miles to fully evaluate it and will make a determination after the Holidays
