Did your dyno guy by any chance show you the rate of acceleration gain? Thats where the Brock's pipe really shines , not only does it make a little more peak power than anything else , it also takes less time to get to peak power , the time difference getting from 3k-redline in 5th gear was a great bit faster with the Brock's than the Akro was. I don't know why tuners don't talk about this that often , it's what we really feel on the street. Good numbers you have there but just looking at your AFR line "it's pretty wavy" I think theres a few more HP and smoother acceleration in your bike. Looks good 6k-redline but 3k-6k isn't real smooth. the bike was real lean from idle to 5 grand before the map, probably due to the big air kit, sabin spent about an hour and a half mapping the bike and he did richen it up in those areas and the surging is gone. im quite happy with the results. without the map the bike made 188 hp so i did pick up a few ponies after the tune. i did not check acceleration rates or compare graphs for the over all spread but verns max when he had the akro did 187 on the same dyno so peak hp is not that much different between the brocks and the akro. Greg, why didn't you go with the Brocks map? Or you could have used it as a starting point for your custom map, I would think it wouldn't have needed more than some slight tweaking....no? i just installed everything and rode to sabins and mapped the bike,it's only around 20 miles to his shop so i was not too concerned about it. |

I'm wondering/asking why you wouldn't just use the map that Brocks provides with the pipe? Even if you wanted a "custom" map. I'm just thinking you could could have saved a lot of time, effort and money by starting with the Brocks map. The adjustments would have been minimal. |

Greg it's not going to matter that you are in a different state and if it's an "Internet" map. The map has much more to do with the hardware on the bike.....and you have the same hardware (except for the re-flash) as the setup Brocks used when creating the map he offers with the pipe. It's a proven map that had a lot of effort go into creating it. I can't understand how he could possibly charge the same if he was only making minor changes to the map you came in with....that dosen't make any sense. He wouldn't have to start from scratch....it would be a much quicker process. Anyway....just saying, if you are happy with the results that's all that matters. |

I did not use a any map and zeroed out my PCV just use it for the quick shifter Tim had my bike for 10 days building that tune for the Brock / Big air the only thing I did was reconnect my o2 sensor that helps with any possible richness below 2500 RPM did your tuner feel the the flash needed tweaking or were you looking for something specific ?

Bob, I believe he has the std. flash with the map on top. |

There was a TON of time put into the map for the Brock's/BAK set-up and if you look at the AFR line on the dyno sheet I posted a few posts back here you'll see its as perfect as you can get , you won't see many AFR as clean as that. Its a great map you should try it. Im not bashing your tuner or nothing like that Im sure he know what he's doing but it would cost hundreds to have someone spend as much time to get you a map this good for your set-up , I think we made over 75 pulls tweaking on this map. Im just trying to help ya out. |
