TOPIC: Broadford Bike Bonanza 2012: Pic heavy

Re: Broadford Bike Bonanza 2012: Pic heavy 1 year 2 months ago #11

No worries guys. I enjoyed seeing some of the old school technology.

Guys adjusting their carbies between runs and going just by their feel, getting everything right, well almost everything as you pointed out capt ;-) somehow pulling up their pants wasn't on their priority list

There was a lot of passion in this era of motorcycling for sure!!!

Those are really nice photos Kris.
The selection of bikes is unreal. Did you perchance see a 1969 Velo Thruxton there? I sold mine to go side car racing in the seventies and it went missing for 20 odd years, until a guy from Bendigo found it in a box. I loved that bike it was 1 of only 6 to come into Australia with an Avon racing fairing. Sold it for $750 now worth $40,000 plus. lol The guy traced me to Western Australia 5 years ago and sent some photos. It appears the AVON fairing is lost. It was a real crowd puller like the our VMAX`s

Thanks for all the pictures. I particularly like this one, since Arie Molenaar, the dealer who sold us our Gen2 has one on his showroom floor. It's not for sale.

This engine has oval cilinder. Very very unique & special.

Kris thanks for the photos, they are great!

If you remember I posted in the fall about a Vintage event I went to in October. It was a lot of fun, I love the old bikes.....so much character.

The sidecar racing is so cool.....the way they slide those rigs through the turns is great with fun to watch. Most of the teams I saw were husband and wife, or guys and their girlfriends. One guy lost his wife ("the monkey" as they are called) on a turn before a straight and went a third of a way around the track before realizing she was off. He new when he tried to make another left turn and the bike went straight off the track because she was not there to help counter balance! She was not happy! LOL

Nice lot of shots there Kris, some very loved bikes right there!

The bikes are priceless just like their owners.

Kudos for still shooting even with a big crack in your lens...lol.

I remember Mark. It's sad, but I think I spend too much time lurking and reading around here.
It was fun seeing them go around so close to the ground. They had to hold on pretty good too in those turns
They had character alright! Very loved those bikes are. And cost a small fortune here. North of 40K some of them.
