dose anybody have a chain drive on the vmax or know who makes a chian drive.i saw some pics of a vmax in japan that had one.any info would be great.

Madmax in Conn. has or does chaindrive. His name is Paul. web is madmax.com, looking at doing one as well. Just got of the phone with him this morning about doing a 240 chaindrive. Can't wait.

I called him about a chain drive conversion about 1.5 years ago. He wanted $9000!!!!!!

He quoted me around 10K. That was a 330 on back and a 3in extention, all chrome. I know it is alot but I wanted one on my 97 from him and I wan't able to get it so now I am.

Just my thoughts on that

What sets the V Max apart from other bikes is the Shaft , Yamaha did an amazing Job on the Gen 2 working the shaft lift out
with the new frame and Mono shock set up , The conclusion is appx 10 % power loss from the shaft for 10 grand
a set of BST's and good intake/exhaust and the V 2 Flash you got you 10 % back the 300 although make the bike look cool
ruins the great handeling and the 10 % you gain in power you would lose the majority with the 300 , to many things can go wrong when you have to send your bike to someone for months to Frankenstein it , I have never heard of one he actually completed last time i checked , It's relatively cheap and easy to put a 300 on a Busa

I had Paul do a 1ST GENN chain drive for me almost 15 years ago, cost way more the he said it would and I had other issues as well. PCW in NY does a conversion too. The chain drive was fun but I wouldnt do it again. just my two cents
