TOPIC: IMMEDIATE HELP NEEDED

IMMEDIATE HELP NEEDED 1 year 1 month ago #1

:arghhh: I knew this was going to happen. I got all the parts to make my 240 Wheel complete. I put everything in (In order) and when they mounted it. They say its binding on something (they believe in the wheel). I checked my install several times to make sure that did not happen. Any ideas??? Maybe the shaft was not put back in properly? I can be reached at 305 322-6802. They will take me to my house so I can get my truck. Been here 4.5 hours and dont want them to charge me for something that is not on me. :arghhh:

Did they remove the 'rubber' part on the inside of the camshaft arm? If not your wheel will not fit at that spot.

I don't have any more advice, because I'm no tech person.

That's a tough one, without actually being there to view their work thus far.

I'd say take it back down, then try putting the shaft through that new wheel to see if it all fits through correctly. If not, your problem is in the wheel. If it does, there's something they are missing as they try to realign the axle, hub and swingarm.

I take it they, at least, know the drive shaft HAS TO BE aligned with the marks to slide back into the u-joint section? Perhaps they've missed the U-joint completely and now the hub isn't sliding forward far enough for proper alignment of hub and axle?

...just thinking out loud here.......

The inspection plate was removed. The issue looks to be that when he installs the brake caliper bracket that its rubbing againt the rotor. As if the rotor is aligned too far to th left (viewing it from the rear).

Sorry I can't help further then. Can't help you with the rotor alignment. This bike was already converted to the 240 when we bought it. My only experience comes from having to do a tire change out, and not actually involving more than disassembly of the brake pads to remove. The reinstall i did went easy.

Good luck.

It looks as if there's to much free play in the wheel. Bearing maybe not seated enough. The old wheel had about a 1/8 inch of free play the New on is about a 1/2.

Now comes the hourly charge! :arghhh:

Sounds like the spindle is too tight? Did they put the washer on first before the brake hanger? Ie: spindle goes through swingarm then a small washer goes on then the calliper hanger before going into the wheel.

Parts Breakdown from right to left:

Axle
Washer
rear Caliper Bracket
ABS-Sensor Bracket
inner Race of right Side Ball Bearing
long Aluminium Spacer
Collar (inner Race of the Needle Bearing, left Side of the Rim)
inner Race of Ball Bearing inside Drive Hub
Axle Thread inside the final Drive

If the Caliper is actually binding, it's either the Washer is inbetween right Side Bearing and ABS Sensor Bracket or probabaly the Ball Bearing isn't seated deep enough.

It was the bearings. I made sure that they were putting everything back together correctly. When you reach into the wheel and move the 2 spacers inside. The 240 had more free play then the 200 thus the bearing was not seating (holding everything closer together in such a way to cause issue. :sick2:  Okay I will think positive and not  about it. Live and Learn. Thank god I dont have to do that again, since it is a full wheel, with no need to remove anything again. Now for the Cost - What for it!......$500 . I wanted to wait until Leesburg to get some members experience and advice, but did not want to be a burden. I knew the dealership would find a way. (even if it was my fault. Expected to walk out $200 for install of 240 and new front tire along with a Dyno ($50). I feel blessed that in this day in age I still can pay it without to much hurt.

Now the good news! DAMN that 240 look nice! :dancing: sitting next to the new Brocks. Its just a beast. Of course new tires I could not run it through its paces yet. but visually everyone in the shop was drooling; and the sound on the dyno. Boy does that Brocks bark :soldier:

Now I still have a thread out there about the Power Commander I like to finish up.... :nerd3:
