TOPIC: Mounting stock signals to tidy tail
Mounting stock signals to tidy tail 1 year 1 month ago #1

I'm sure there's a thread that talks about it but I can't seem to find about how people mounted the stock signals to tidy tail. I assume you have to purchase the stalks, but where, how much, etc.
Thanks in advance. |

You don't have to purchase anything. Simply remove the rubber stalks and mount the bulb enclosure to the tail on each side..

Okay, I have to cut the wire to thread out the stalk? The connection on the end will not allow stalk and triangle washer to pass. Also since it looks like it will mount using screws do I have to thread wires around bracket?

You don't cut the wires, you have to remove the fender cover. The signals unplug under there.

I removed the turn signals from the fender. the only thing connected is the turn signals with the stalks on them. I took the turn signals apart and the end of the wires are welded to the light bulb enclosure (so I cant remove from there. On the other end of the wire is a black and grey (left and right) connectors. Those connectors are too big for the washers, and stalks to pass over.

Are you trying to mount them without the rubber stalks?

Either or it does not matter. I just dont see how I can mount them to the tidy tail. when it has a circluar opening to put like a stem through with the wires (like the old model vmax). I thought I saw a pic that someone had a stem installed on the gen 2 turn signals without the rubber stalks.

Now I see what you're saying. I've got the Corbin tail and it has the oval holes in it ready to go. I'm guessing yours is made for aftermarket signals only. You could grind out the hole to the shape you need.

I wish, the plate is not big enough.

I wish, the plate is not big enough. I thought you had the Exactrep "Tidy Tail"...and have attached some pictures of that installation that I did on three GEN2s that I owned... Also, have attached a PDF installation manual for the "Hi-Tail" that I made and most of the steps can be used with exception of my special plates and spacers that come in my kit... On the metal triangular plates inside of the stock turn signals, some of them have to be cut in order to slide the cable connector through them...some of the connectors are slightly (a few mm) smaller and slide right through... Then on at least the Exactrep "Tidy Tail", another hole must be drilled so that both the stock phillips head screw and the cable can be passed through... On the LED, which is also included with the Exactrep "Tidy Tail". some extra work needs to be done to get it right for at least USA license plates since they have a raised lip whereas the U.K. and most European plates are FLAT...no biggie on the extra mods...
