1st- Tires, 180/55-18 Shinko 003 back & front 011 is as must.. Not once did I have any traction issuses other then my back tire locking up & i'll address that next.. Tire psi, 35psi worked great front & back about the same.. & didn't grow thoughout the day @ all.. 2nd- Clutch, EBC clutch plates are great add on, BUT the DD clutch spring (double D) has to go for a track day. The DD would lockup the back tire when u really started pushin' the bike hard on downshifts entering a turn or just getting it slowed down.& trust me I was using my brakes too. It made me go off line & off track once & only once with the it locking up the tire. Didn't let it happen again, trust that.. & by the way, the BEAST does well off road too 3rd- suspension, get it setup to ur weight.. My bike was setup befor I got the track with it leaned back more in the back.. With the front higher then the back.. Too much so.. I paid to have it set up as well as it could be & I could tell the difference completely.. He told me with my miles I needed to service everything.. He said the shocks fatigued over time some, but still I came away with THE BEST $40 i've spent on the Max.. Can't beat geometry.. 4th- Flash, i've said it b4 & i'll say it again, Tim, u did a great job with my ECU.. The on & off throttle feel & response is outstanding on & off the track.. Can't say enough about it.. Keep up the good fight Tim, u r winning sir.. Hope this helps someone if ever u take ur BEAST to a trackday.. I had a blast on the BEAST! Luved hearin' from some of the sporties after we came off the track & ask what is that thing? Oh, Danny was my instructor with Ridesmart.. U know him on here as Shifty I do believe.. Hope he chimes in soon about the day |

Thanks Ted for the report. Glad you got to do what many of us only can dream about. I wished you would elaborate more on how it did against the sporties (lap times etc.) but I'll sit on the edge of my seat & wait for the Video

HaHa! Kudos Ted! You are a "Hot Shit!"
My track buds have been bugging me to put the MAX on the track. But I have not had room in the trailer lately as I have had to truck friends' bikes to the track. One thing about this thread: there is too much bullshit about break lines and track prep. Fuck that! That is not what Track Days are all about. If you own a bike, do a track day! Preferably 2 days back to back. Beware! You will become a TractDay addict! Run what you brung! Adventure bikes, cruisers, Gold Wings.... TrackDay Junkies love you all! Sign up and run that shit! Beware! You will get the disease! My main track bud said I was way too fast for the street, and that I needed to get on the track, or otherwise, I was going to get myself killed. Another track bud took me by the "scruff of the neck" and dragged me out of my dreamy easy-chair and took me to the motorcycle shop to buy some serious protective track gear. Five TrackDays on the ZX-14 and I had to get a "track bike." But, to the point for my VMAX buds: my main track bud was never so pissed off as on the night we made a serious rip on a long backroad run and his CBR 600RR track bike could not lose the VMAX! Granted, he was leading and I was catching the tow, but still... He was completely freaked that he could not shake that stupid cruiser! Learn how to ride this monster, my friends. It is an awesome piece of machinery! |
