Dannie,
I ordered mine from Tim's GuruedGear web site for just a little bit more. I prefer to support a StarVMax site sponsor whenever I can.

I have a couple questions because i was going to change to the K&N after crushing my Evoluzione "Blue" filter a little bit fitting it in after cleaning.

1. Is my Evoluzione "blue" filter a "cool Blue"/ Accel filter. I did get it at a reasonable price at the time from Ken?

2. Is there a reason why some of the filters tested by oliver at the time used in different directions? or does it not matter as long as there is a mesh to keep the media from falling apart inside your air box.

3. Tim (Guru) has a k&n made for the max #YA-1709 dimensions 1.5x8x9.5. does this one fit in or hang out?

4. The k&n cm-9908 dimmensions 5.25x8.125x .875 used for the Spyder fit in or hang out of the air box.

5. I also read about Kens Blue one hitting the velocity stacks. thats probably why he first recommended removal of the stacks. I had just put them back in because Tim says I'm loosing mid range HP without it.
I put it back in and it does seem close, but I believe it's clearing it.

I also love to support our site sponsors, but need to save every penny I make to put into this Beast. So if i can get the same items elsewhere for a lot cheaper or at a local Autozone I will for such items as this. I had great Technical assistance through both Ken and Tim when needed.

I work with a lot of filters and know that the direction of airflow and the orientation of the pleats are important and should always go vertical.

Hopefully I can pool together enough info to make my final decision to get another Life long filter.

I also couldn't believe how dirty my filter was too when I got back into the airbox. I just wish there weren't so many bolts to remove to change/clean it. I'll admit, I must have gone two years without cleaning it(2000 miles)

So make it a point to check/clean it as often as you can to keep your beast up to it's full potential. I do remember someone like Squeeze or someone reminding people to clean your filter for that added HP.

later,

Mike D
