Hi We are flying "blind" to a new bike in the states for 4 week tour west coast, what mileage can I expect
from a tank of fuel at highway speed? no burnouts or high accelerations--- "minister for home affairs on the back" |

Lot of variables there weight , mountains elevation ect is the bike stock ? , I would think on a stock bike on the hi way
2 up 27-30 MPG cruising , I would have a good GPS with a gas station list built in bad feeling when that light is on and no exit in sight , I would think you would not be to far from base camp considering luggage capacity even with the factory rack is limited, Old iron butt trick is to have 2-3 camping fuel cells full of gas as an emergency plan usually find them at Wal-mart or sporting goods stores they pack better than a plastic gas can |

I got my bike 4 weeks ago,I had a long ride home and most was on the motorway with not many fuel garages,I had a few quick blasts, the fuel light finally came on and I got 120 miles out of it before filling up,now when I am going on a trip of more than 100 miles I will take the satnav and plot my route,I will be filling up every time around the 70 mile range.

Thanks Bob, New stock bike, and GPS ready for trip, I have purchased the nice accessories out of Japan $3000.00 plus freight , saddle bags, petal screen, back rest (increasing height now) and rack ect. All up load 400lb. Thanks for the tip on fuel cells. I couldn't resist new bike in US at 1/2 price of Australian rip off.

You got 120 mile on a tank.thats very rare.check your numbers again.i was getting 95 mpg stock.now i get about 85.with lots of mod. |

No need to check mileage,my journey on satnav was 148 miles, the bike had 302 miles on it when I picked it up,i filled up after hitting 120 range (this was not by choice,I was stuck on the motorway with not a petrol station in sight ) I was giving it barely any throttle and shitting myself on the thought of running out of fuel and having to abandon it....I wouldn't chance it again . |

Thanks, I have a bit of an idea, easy on the throttle on the long stretches, sounds like this bike is not too much different to my current gen 1 Max
