Carbon Fiber DISCONTINUED(!) - need CF fender 1 year 2 weeks ago #1

Finally taking the plunge and joining the forum. I bought a very lightly used (<500 miles) 2010 VMAX off of eBay back in late January, and decided to replace all of it's red bodywork with OEM carbon fiber, including intakes, instrument pod, tank cover, side covers, and both front and rear fenders (along with a host of other accessories such as big wheel kit, ASV levers, etc, etc). Anyway, I'm in Denver and the I bought the bike from a dealer in Virginia. He immediately ordered all of the CF parts, and all arrived, except for the rear fender. I've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting on the rear fender for 3+ months now, and the latest word
Yamaha is that they have DISCONTINUED the carbon fiber accessories. Obviously this is a bit disconcerting to me, since I simply cannot leave the red rear fender as-is. Ideally, somebody out there has an OEM carbon-fiber rear fender that they're willing to part with. If that's you - please let me know!! My other options are either settling for an '09 black rear fender (not sure how that will look though, might be an ok temporary fix), or possibly ordering Exactrep's carbon fiber rear fender (I've checked with them and they claim that it's available). My concern is that the Exactrep CF might not match the OEM CF - and also that they're in the UK and that their fender will set me back ~$1K with shipping! Can anyone offer any help in the way of locating the missing fender, or suggesting attractive alternatives? Thanks!!

Welcome Bill. Atlanta Hydro Imaging has a process where they can imitate carbon fiber designs. A couple of members have used them in the past, and they come highly recommended. I noticed this a few months back while looking at the cf parts myself. Y sports plaza told me the side covers and the rear fender were unavaliable and they were phazing out the other parts.	hirevn OFFLINE Expert Max Posts: 615 Thank you received: 270

Dear All, As to the availability of the OEM genuine Yamaha Carbon Fibre '09 rear fender we supply, it is certainly still available for order here in UK at this moment in time, this means there is still stock, when /what date those stocks run out, who knows?
