Most bikes today use DOT5. It takes the heat better, reduces brake fading and resists moisture and that is a good thing.

As you can see from VmaxBeast's post, DOT5 is a superior fluid, but should not be used in a DOT3/4 system. DON'T MIX UP!

Thanks Squeeze i stand corrected the dot 3/4 i was using is a synthetic not silicone prob not as bad on paint
but as a rule would not want any brake fluid excess on my bike anyway . Wonder why the hell Yamaha does not spec 5.1 ?
