Lowered 3/4 inch and 250 makes U unique Phil and after all it's your curb too.
I have some aluminum mesh like screen door type paint it black and put it behind the Yammy grate and you would have a Radiator saver for rocks that you are missing now if you want some let me know I will cut you a section and send it to you. |

Phil, for your weight you need the front spring preloaded to maximum setting to star with
Suspension has a lot of travel upfront and you might be set too soft to begin with. |

Kris, That's a good point...I was assuming that he messed around with his setting after purchasing the bike but if not, then the OEM setup is set for more of my weight of 170-175 lbs...only the pre-load MAY take care of the problem... Thanks guys, being 6.2 235 and then add my gear tops me out at 250 ish, even my dad told me yesterday that i make the bike look small. I have some stuff here i can play with, foam or mesh will figure out something but thanks guys.
I havent messed with the factory suspension settings yet, only have about 230 miles so far. I have been busy getting the race car ready for Sunday, first race of the season! Any bigger guys have a good starting point for the suspension setup i should try to start with? Also just to state i added the 1 inch rear link and even at my weight there has been no rubbing on the rear so i don't know? |

You will be ahead of the game by making some adjustments Yamaha ships is set for comfort and prob a much lighter test rider
Good place to start is all the tight (clockwise) and back 2-3 clicks that includes the forks , that is a bit aggressive but stll smooths Out the bumps and good settings for racing once I set mine up I never changed and have had no clearance problems with the Cobra Like I did with the Metzler rubbing the inner fender |

Last weekend i had mine touched by a pro to setup my bike and the top adjustment you need to bring out the silver setting like 2 lines..I @ 1st put mine in and thought this was right and boy was i wrong in doing this..I'm 230 with gear on and i would bet my set would work for you but if you lowed the back one 1 ince..This going to hurt handling b/c ur even more of a lay back seating position..Not a good thing when u want the bike to handle right..
Let out the silver one with the with the lines in it..adjust every thing more to the tighter side and go for a ride and re-adjust as needed to the way u like it.. Best way to adjust to you is ur weight and sitting on the the bike and taking Measurements and picking the bike up front and back to see what the slack if there as well.. Good luck! I'll post up a pic of mine and the setting on the forks |

I just wanted to say thanks to Darren for his pm's concerning my little issue and his willingness to help. That is whats great about most everyone on this forum, you guys rock! It seems the bottom of my extender is back a little to far by 1/2 inch and can be adjusted just by how you hold it in place while your sticking it in place. I didn't think much of it when putting it on but i am going to remove it and re stick it getting the angle closer to the tire, along with stiffen up the suspension.
Thanks again! |
