I have Tim's oil pressure kit installed on my bike and lately have noticed that the light flashes when at Idle and hot (in stop and go traffic) I have spoken to Tim about this and he says that the light will not come on until about pressure less than 4.5 psi or so... I am running Mobile 1 4T 10w40 oil. The manual does recommend 20 w 50 weight for 60 F or greater... Guess I should change...
I can get just off idle at about 1100 rpm and all is well though....

yes and yes, but the gauge would not show low enough

Definitely Brett, the 20w50 will help.. 15w40 at the least.. We live in Florida and thicker is better in the heat

And to clarify Capt. The bike is not running hot, but is warmed up, running half on the meter

How did you break in the motor? Gently, according to the manual... or really laying into it from day one? Curious.

I know a lot of people say that one should beat on it from day one, but it seems they usually aren't the ones who keep their cycles for a long time.

I hope the oil switch helps... If nothing else, like you said, you've got a warranty. Either way, I hope it all works out.

Fairly gentle for about 400 miles, then rode like I normally do, some hard hitting, but mostly highway miles at 80...
I does not always do it though, the bike has to warm up good before. So I assume it is just on the threshhold... anyway I will change to 20w50 Yamithen try again.... Wish they made it in Mobile 1 4T

You could always add an oil treatment to increase viscosity..

20-50 oil is all i've ever used not one issue Brett. Runs like a top still.. Changed EVERY 3000 miles.. Now @ 53000 & counting..
