TOPIC: New Exhaust

New Exhaust 1 year 1 month ago #1

 Started to install the new Thundermax exhaust this afternoon and it is more than I bargained for. I didn't have a extention long enough to get to the rear exhaust for one. Second I said well I will install the fender elimanator and the new break light/turn signal, didn't know I had to remove the whole fender to do this :arghhh: now that won't happen until tomorrow if it happens at all. :nononono: Then after that I talked to a member and he told me that I needed to remove the exup from under the rearfender and I had to do the AIS mode as well. :nope: :nope: :nope: This is lookin like I might have a totally stock bike until I sell it after I pay for it. This sucks. I hate to say it but the new max is turnin out to be more trouble than it is worth.
:rolleyes2:

Yes, but I don't have the installation instructions anymore for the Maxtuner. Maybe someone here can dig it up, but I can't. I think it was just a plug in wire harness where you basically unplug a connector from the ECU and run it thru the Maxtuner back to the ECU.

Don't get discouraged, this isn't a Hardley Ableson  A Gen2 Vmax requires a bit of patience & work to achieve the desired results, but it's worth it ;) My bike was not a month old yet when it looked like this.. Just nut, bolts & fasteners to remove & re-install ;)

I've done all that and more with no experience whatsoever. I am a fairly smart guy but mostly I follow instructions pretty well which are well posted on this site.

You can handle it.

Dannie....Dannie....Dannie.... :rollingno:

How are you ever going to get to know your bike if you don't establish an intimate relationship with it?

Spend some time with it, lie on the garage floor with it, buy it expensive gifts!

It just making it your own...kinda like marriage! :)

Oh and I almost forgot...free counseling anytime from your StarVmax friends!

Dannie, all those things you mentioned would apply to all bikes once you start modding them
Do you really think that Vmax is the only bike with an Exup valve or air induction system?
Removing the rear plastic fender to expose the frame is a piece of piss; few bolts and few clips

I take it you don't tinker a lot? that's okay, just get a copy of the manual and take your time
If you don't enjoy it, keep your bike stock and enjoy it in stock form. Plenty of members do

Dude....if I had to rank all the members of this site for mechanical aptitude I am pretty damn sure I would come in last (or at least the bottom 1%). I invited my brother over for a weekend, bought a couple cases of beer and 2 days later we had the intake system ripped out and replaced with the Big Monster Air and the cat removed and Akro mid-pipe installed. Bingo...the Beast turned into a monster...and I don't know my @$$ from a hole in the ground. And I've had her torn down and put back together a half dozen times since then.

Whatever you don't know is a PM or posting away...the guys on this site are awesome...and won't let you fail.

Thanks for the support. I know that a nash flash will fix alot but was wondering can I just install the pipe and not have a problem with the rest.
