TOPIC: THIS is the KEY??

THIS is the KEY?? 1 year 1 week ago #1

I'm having my 2010 Max shipped from an out-of-state dealer, I owned a Gen 1 but have never spent much time around a Gen 2.
Anyway, the dealer shipped me the key in advance of the bike getting here. Well, I guess it's the key. What brainiac in Japan came up with this key-fob idea? Does anyone really use this key, or do you all go down to Home Depot and get a normal-looking key made? It's obviously overbuilt - I can only imagine what it would cost to replace - but then again, who would want to? Seriously, does this thing have a purpose that I'm not aware of?

Goes in your front pocket....the ladies won't leave you alone! :blahblahbla

The bike should also come with a "standard" type Yamaha key.

I've never used my male enhancement key......some do though.

In reply to your last question...YES, it does...it makes newbies like you to ask us, "WTF" is it???...lol...

You should be receiving a "normal", well, MORE normal looking, more flat key with the bike...the USA models came with the large doorknob looking key and the smaller, slimmer key, when new...

Personally, I have always used the larger one and starting probably more than a year ago, I don't carry the key holder with me, just the large key itself and when I park the bike at home, the key stays in the ignition and away from home, I just throw the key in my jacket pocket...

Thanks all - just a sanity check. I do have the other spare key which I'll probably end up using most days. I'll save the butt plug key holder for those special rides with the wife. I wonder if I can get one made up in carbon fiber to match my bodywork?

I use it both on the bike and for personal defense. (Handles like a roll of quarters). To me it makes it harder to mis-place and is a conversation starter.

Also the older you get, the bigger key is easier to see and find. :brushyourte
