I'm having my 2010 Max shipped from an out-of-state dealer, I owned a Gen 1 but have never spent much time around a Gen 2.
Anyway, the dealer shipped me the key in advance of the bike getting here. Well, I guess it's the key. What brainiac in Japan came up with this key-fob idea? Does anyone really use this key, or do you all go down to Home Depot and get a normal-looking key made? It's obviously overbuilt - I can only imagine what it would cost to replace - but then again, who would want to? Seriously, does this thing have a purpose that I'm not aware of?

Goes in your front pocket....the ladies won't leave you alone! The bike should also come with a "standard" type Yamaha key. I've never used my male enhancement key......some do though.	itgoes NOW ONLINE Platinum Max Posts: 4885 Thank you received: 2341

In reply to your last question...YES, it does...it makes newbies like you to ask us, "WTF" is it???...lol...

You should be receiving a "normal", well, MORE normal looking, more flat key with the bike...the USA models came with the large doorknob looking key and the smaller, slimmer key, when new...

Personally, I have always used the larger one and starting probably more than a year ago, I don't carry the key holder with me, just the large key itself and when I park the bike at home, the key stays in the ignition and away from home, I just throw the key in my jacket pocket...

Yeah, there's been a lot of discussion on this .... some of it pretty funny... Thanks all - just a sanity check. I do have the other spare key which I'll probably end up using most days. I'll save the butt plug key holder for those special rides with the wife.
